[sblock=OOC] I wouldn't think it would be too dangerous to mention the name Espranachtis in public - you're going to get blank looks from anyone who can't make a DC 20 Knowledge (religion) check [/sblock]

(OOC: Which is actually the result of the fact that it is obscure because there is not an 'Order of Espranachtis' and people don't go around talking about it. Which begs the question--how did the character in question make the DC 20 check on a take 10 unless she had the +10 for worshipping Amphousa/Disnomia or the +20 for worshipping Espra herself ;))

OOC: You even have to make a check to identify a greater god? DC 20? That insane! Everyone ignore my last line IC. I keep forgetting that for some reason something as simple as identifying an evil greater god requires a pretty hard @ first level check.

(OOC: No, usually it's probably DC 10 to identify a Greater God. Espranachtis is a secretive elder goddess who has not manifested in milennia (some say she can't any more) and has no organised church or order. The only main references to her except in sacred texts of her two daughter-aspects is found in ancient texts that few would read, since she hasn't had any direct visible influence or worshippers to spread her name)

[sblock=OOC]Previous post edited, just in case someone missed it.

Background-related. She took 10 for a Remember (parental teachings) check. :P[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]Naivety is a curse, but she's supposed to look

a) like someone who'd never-ever do something evil or worship Espranachtis
b) the type you wouldn't really want to hurt unless you're a big bad meanie-poo.

EDIT: Oh geez, thanks for posting while I'm writing this. And yes, she smiles a lot.[/sblock]

Sammy smiles comfortingly. "I don't know about placing myself in harm's way, I might not find it," she flashes her tongue at the silly joke. "But I do know that if someone needs my help and asks for it, I should give that assistance to them." She takes a small sip from her glass to moisten her throat.

"I suppose being a warrior is similar though. From what I've learned from my parents, some people and creatures are just beyond the point where they can be convinced to help others and so they must be slain," she frowned. "I don't like the idea of killing and dying, but sometimes it's the only way to make others safer and happier. My parents didn't really like to talk about these things but I think that people should work for the benefit of others as well as their own. After all, we're in this together, right?" After finishing the long speech in her high-pitched voice she smiled encouragingly before drinking a bit more of her milk. "And the gods are in this world with us, so I think whatever we do, it should be balanced between us and them."

Richard smiles a lot in return, seen or not. He listens attentively to the ideas the healer gives voice and nods, stops and forces an encouraging "umhmm" or "sure" a couple times, but is largely quiet until she finishes.
"And if more could figure that out then we'd both be out of jobs." The fighter laughs easily at his poor joke, sits back and relaxes. He flashes a grin at his friends and thanks the barmaid who brings his abandoned draft from the bar.

OOC: Now back to ICness and not meta-gaming. By the way, Solnath, you write and RP really well. I'm kind of in awe over here.

Auric is dumbstruck. He's always been cynical, spending your childhood running for your life does that to you. Now he meets the first people he's ever met he would really call altruistic here in a bar that caters to adventurers. He feels like maybe he's been looking at it all wrong. He looks over at Sammy, and finally figures out why Richard is so fascinated. She's blind, spending her life like this and all she's interested in is helping people.
Wow. Thats ... Thats beautiful.

Sammy laughs lightly at the joke, slightly more than mere politeness asks. She smiles as she realises how lucky she's been so far, meeting only nice people, even though her mother warned about the nasties that wandered the earth. "There's always something to do and I think that if - and when - everyone figures that, we'll just start playing by a different set of rules and face other challenges. Things aren't always what they look like," she blushes and grins at what she had just said and covers a part of her expression by taking a drink from her glass.

[sblock=OOC]Thanks Eternal, I appreciate that. It's what you get for hanging out a couple of years with NationStates veterans who RP PbP with six or seven hundred posts per week, 90% in character... *shivers* It's swim or sink.

Oh yeah, and you thought that all Lawful Good ever amounts to are stupid paladins who annoy everyone? Well, so did I until 12 hours ago.[/sblock]

The young woman seems to have struck a chord in the large warrior. Richard sips his dark ale and listens to the conversations... he seems a bit distant, not participating much for awhile.
OOC: Time to go, was great fun this afternoon - hope to pick up tomorrow!
