"Of course. Who does not know that spell? It is one of my own fundamentals. I prepare it each day, without fail," says Taelythenhel. She notices Ruud keeping an eye on the door. "Are you expecting someone? You were about to speak with the siara'las, the... katara female... when I asked for your assistance. Do not let me keep you from your prior obligation."

Thank Taka that last voyage had come to an end, thought Payne as she made her way into the tavern where all the trouble had begun. She had intentions of buddying up with Kol after the excerusion, but misplaced him in the confusion of the city streets when they all went their separate ways. Oh well. His loss, really. The cloaked female scanned the crowd for a moment or two, sizing up her surroundings before making towards the bar. After all the stress and anger issues back in the compound, she sure as hell could use a drink. Skirting the throng of people, the femme finally made it to her destination and slipping one boot'd foot upon the rung of a stool she took to a lean. ``Name is Payne..Something strong..`` She wasn't picky about what the something strong was, as long as it was that.

Ruud shakes his head and smiles, "No, I'm not expecting anyone. This just seems to be such a busy place, I am looking forward to whoever walks in next. The katara seems a bit distracted, and I am finding my conversation with you quite fascinating."

"I believe in almost every other way, I am quite commonplace," Taelythenihel responds. "I am always pleased to discuss the art with another practitioner, of course."

Upon seeing the slippery femme fatale, Kol shouted across the room. "There you are! If you were trying to lose me you probably should not have come to the very first drinking hole that served grog!" He went to her side of the bar and slammed his mug down, a broad grin on his face.

Payne twinged at the booming voice, her hand slipping into her cloak as if she was about to draw a dagger -- then it all sunk in and a crooked grin formed over those poisonous tiers. ``How do you know I'm not here to kill you? I did have my eye on that axe of your's..`` She snickered softly and snagged the drink the tender was serving, her still concealed hand producing a few coin to slide across the bar's top. ``Making friends?`` She nodded in the direction of the company Kol had left.

"She is an interesting one," says Taelythenihel, indicating the latest arrival at the bar. "With her name, she and I, Sorrow, would make a fine pair. I am not certain I wish to make her acquaintance, though. She strikes me as somewhat unpredictably dangerous."

"If you were here to kill me I am sure I wouldn't see you coming so blatantly. More likely I would feel the cold steel slip between my ribs. As for wanting the Ax? Mayhaps if it didn't weigh more then you I would be worried." he notes the coins on the bar. "Drinks are free remember?" He snatches the coins and hands them back to the rogue. "I always either make friends or enemies...There is no middle road for me."

Ruud seems to relax a bit, "Chased? No, no. I wasn't being 'chased' at all, although thanks for your concern. One of my size merely needs to be careful with standing in front of doors. Can be dangerous at times."

The katara stands there, seemingly lost in thought. After a moment, she speaks. "Yess. This world is dangerous forr folks of our size."

OoC: Busy weekend. Sorry.

A young man enters through the door. He wears the mail and battered steel sword of a fighting man though he hardly looks it otherwise. Though tall and large boned, his armor seems to hang off him awkwardly, creating an unimpressive image. His face is rather boring as well, looking more like a shy peasant than a noble swordsman. A mud splattered undyed wool tabard completes the look. The only thing of note about the young man is a fine steel shield slung over his shoulder. He walks across the floor of the common room, wiping his hands on his stained, gray trousers. He sits down at the bar near Payne and Kol.

"Thought I might find you guys here. Oh, I forgot."

He raises his head and speaks up, his voice barely louder than his low conversational tone.

"My name is Lokin Barnwill. I'm a sword-for-hire just back from a rather disappointing adventure. I hope to change my luck with the next."

Lokin grabs the attention of the bartender and quietly orders an ale.
