Ron said:Sigil, as well as all other Planescape setting material, could be more popular if written in English, for a change. Additionally, as much as Planescape was interesting, Sigil was kind of boring. It allowed too much, restricted too little, and thus became somewhat bland for a multiplanar setting.
With Glantri out, I have to incline toward Freeport and Greyhawk.
Sigil...bland and boring? And more specifically...blander and more boring than Freeport and Greyhawk? Pfah. I disagree with you and you are therefore incorrect! Clearly!
More seriously, however: an uninteresting personal anecdote! I set the first campaign I ever DMed in Sigil. It fascinated me--initially because of the Planescape: Torment game, which I adored, and then because of the wonderful material about the setting that I read. Despite my inexperience, the players had a great time in the game, and I loved using the city, as well as the city itself. I liked everything about it--the ineffable Lady and the dabus, the factions (oh, Doomguard, how I love thee), the other NPC inhabitants of the city, the importance of belief, the opportunity to randomly have characters fall through a hole in the multiverse if they decided to hum a tune while walking down the street... heck, I even liked the cant. For my wonderful first experience with the setting (and, of course, for Torment...by far my favorite video game), Sigil will always hold a special place in my heart.
...So, in other words, down with Greyhawk.
