Civilization: Call To Power

Hello, all. I have a version of this from the late 90's and would like to upgrade to one that's more current. After reading a few reviews on Amazon, I decided to check the Activision site. No versions of CCTP are even listed! Does that mean Activision no longer makes it? What's the best/most current version out there?

Thanks!

Well, I don't know what reviews you've been reading, but CTP was one of the absolute worst games I've ever played. The units were unbalanced, diplomacy non-existent, and gameplay was boring. I know a few people enjoyed the game, but most reviews were in the 1-2 stars range (out of 5).

If you still want to get it, there was a CTP 2 released several years ago. I would suggest trying ebay. I just checked and there are two auctions right now.

Well, the thing is this. If we're talking about the "excitement factor" of a game in the short-term (say, 20 minutes), then, yes, CCTP is very boring compared to games like Star Craft, etc. BUT, if we're talking about ONE game over the course of, say 20 DAYS, then CCTP's excitement factor builds and builds and builds, while "real-time" strategy games get "worn out" pretty quickly.

Get Civ 3 Complete or wait 6 months and get Civ 4.

You know what? One or both of us is confused!

The game(s) I'm talking about is/are called "Civilization: Call To Power" and "Civilization: Call To Power II". These are/were made by Activision.

I think what you're talking about is/are entirey different game(s) called "Civilization", "Civilization II", and "Civilization III" made by Atari.

Call to Power was one of the worst purchases I've ever made. I wouldn't touch another game in that series.

In the other series, Civilization II was the best in the Civ I-II-III line.

The previews of Civ 4 actually gave me mixed feelings. One thing that I saw and immediately was turned off by is that they are *reducing* the number of turns in a game from 500+ to 400.

I *want* more turns in the game.
