CL 16 gish spell list

I have a CL 16 gish spell list for critique, any opinions?

1st - Shield, Magic missle, Identify, True Strike, Ray of enfleebement, Enlarge person, Disguise self, Nerveskitter, Lesser orb of sound

2nd - Mirror image, False life, Alter self, Wraithstrike

3rd - Haste, Spiderskin, Keen Edge, Fly

4th - Greater invisibility, Stoneskin, Fire shield, Polymorph

5th - Fabricate, Permanency, Vulnerability, Dragonsight

6th - Tenser's transformation, Greater heroism, Greater dispel magic, True seeing

7th - Limited wish, spell turning, Avasculate, Energy immunity

8th - Superior invisibility, Mind Blank, Moment of prescience, polymorph any object

Vulnerability

Wow, this spell really sucks. It should have no save at least, or be a swift action or something. At that level, you can cast a spell, that completely disables the target on a failed save, but no, it lowers DR by 5 (or 10; and not even down to 0). Woohoo!

Well, what can you expect when they can't even add 9 and 4 together properly.

But maybe giths are that way...

Then you labeled it wrong.


What you could do is change it to Mass Fire Shield (assuming you are not alone) and then change Fire Shield to Dimension Door (some teleporting magic is seriously lacking there).

Or just change it to Teleport or Greater Blink.

Oh, and you are totally missing Greater Magic Weapon. Drop Keen Edge for that and get a scabbard of keen edges.

Something else... the above looks like a spell list for a wizard with an 18 starting Int.

Unless you get seriously high ability scores, you cannot afford an 18 starting Int, if you also want decent physical abilities.

And as a wizard you should have many, many more spells in your spellbook (easily three times as many or more) by that level.

Which books can you use?

What kind of character is it? (Multiclassing? Wizard or sorcerer? Ability scores? Feats? Equipment?)

I see a lot of buffing spells in there. What are you looking at?

Its a fighter/mage hybrid. I cant get a scabbard of keen edges because the DM is rolling on tables to give us most of our equipment, and i used up most of my actual money on stuff like stat boosting items.

The weapon is already +6 so i dont need greater magic weapon.

Assume pretty much all books for spells i guess.

This is just the free spell list. I have 2k left over that could be spent on more spells if necessary.

Not sure how tight your feat selection is, maybe you want to take Collegiate Wizard at 1st for extra spells (4 each level instead of 2).

2k isn't much for additional spells. You would be better off with a Sorcerer then, since you are gimping your Wizard by negating his prime advantage.

Contingency is a very good spell to have.

Also you might speak with your DM about extra spells, Mabye pay for a Blessed Book and get a bunch of free spells or something. Honestly a high level wizard is going to have a lot more spells then the freebies.
