Clarification on an AoO case

It's quite possible to pinpoint an invisible foe with a Listen or Spot check, but even so, all you've done is pinpointed a square. That by no means allows you to make AoO's against the Imp, since it's still invisible and has full concealment, and even if they DO somehow attack it, they've still got a 50% miss chance.

The adventurers know he's a Raksaha (they've been told by an NPC). His own guards don't know, his captain of the guard has figured it out, but he's ok with it because he wants to be on "the winning team" the imp stays invisible so the guards or the public never figure out anything.

I think the big point is that the imp won't provoke on the way in, but will on the way out.

I don't think the PC will miss the whole flapping wings above his head bit if the Imp swoops in and hovers (do they even have the manueverability to hover?) and would definately notice something amiss of the Imp landed on said NPC (is that an attack landing on an unwillign target - oops there goes the invis). :p

They do in fact have fly speed 50 (perfect) so hovering isn't an issue.

My understanding is that if they've pinpointed a square, they still provoke and players can take the AoO. Yes, they'll still have the miss chance, but they can still try. Could be wrong, though.

SRD:
You can’t execute an attack of opportunity against an opponent with total concealment, even if you know what square or squares the opponent occupies.
