well, would be nice to know.

At that point I’d argue the ratings poll is still broken and should be improved (as proposed), but that fact would no longer matter.

They would then get much more accurate results from the written feedback than from the ratings, so the issue with the ratings approach no longer dominates the result.
At that point they would be better off ignoring the ratings altogether (because of their flaws)

I think they said over 100,000 survey responses. And the forums are probably in the hundreds.

there are text boxes in the survey, I was talking about filling those, not about WotC searching for posts on forums

Unless you think the ratio for that matches how many people are on forums vs how many fill out the survey…

I assumed my 5% a while ago is probably not too far off, it a bit optimistic (was giving the benefit of the doubt), my 10% earlier was very generous, but I do not really know either way for sure

The problem is that with time dwindling, it's becoming a vote between old and new. If (for example) template wild shape was rejected not on concept but on execution, then every person who voted "ok, but could be better" had their votes tally with "terrible, do not want".

Well, “ok but could be better” would still contribute positively to the satisfaction score. Unless you tried to express “ok” with the “dissatisfied” option. But this has publicly been their UA process for a decade, so folks should know by now: vote “very satisfied” if you want it as-presented. Vote “satisfied” if you like the idea but want to see it tweaked. Vote “very dissatisfied” if you don’t like it and don’t want them to pursue it further. The “dissatisfied” has pretty minimal utility, basically just for things you don’t like but could live with in some form.

Since 4 and 5 are passing grades, 3 seems to be a good candidate for ‘needs improvement’ while 1 and 2 essentially mean ‘I do not want this’

The polls aren’t on a 1-5 scale. There are 4 options: very satisfied, satisfied, dissatisfied, and very dissatisfied. No neutral option. And it doesn’t matter if you participated in the D&D Next playtest. If you’ve given feedback on any Unearthed Arcana throughout 5e’s run, you’ve seen this before.
