Classic Dungeons: all of them to exist in the new edition

Bill Slavicsek, in a interview on the Dungeon Survival Guide, says:

As for classic dungeons, we plan for all of them to exist in the new edition. We’ll talk more about that in the near future.

And Chris Perkins says:

Some of the best adventures of previous editions appeared in Dungeon magazine, and that trend will continue with 4th Edition.

They also say how mondo-fantastic adventures in the new edition will be.

BUT, they are defining what is classic...from the end of the article they note that Expedition to the Barrier Peaks will not make the cut:

Wizards of the Coast: And finally, to end with a hardball: When it comes to the earlier modules explored, the Dungeon Survival Guide covers S1: Tomb of Horrors, S2: White Plume Mountain, and S4: Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth…. I can’t help but wonder, where’s the love for S3 in the series, Expedition to the Barrier Peaks? Will we ever see revised power armor and vegepygmies return to the game?

Bill: Not on my watch. Barrier Peaks is a wonderful adventure, but to me it isn’t a D&D adventure. Once you add ray guns and power armor to the game, you have a fundamentally different experience. Now, presenting it as a d20 Modern adventure? I can see that happening at some point.

Chris: Bill is my boss; of course he’s right. Far be it for me to offer a different point of view.... Froghemoths forever!

S3 isn't a D&D adventure? A perusal of Best of the Dragon 1 and Temple of the Frog would suggest it's a whole lot more "D&D" than straight-up fantasy adventures are.

Still, more chances for Goodman Games to smack some home runs out of the park.

Mainly because I've never seen them (and I hear so much about them), I'd like to see:

Tomb of Horrors.
Keep on the Borderland.
Night Below.

Which only makes sense because, so far, the designers are taking such great pains to make sure 4E remains true to its roots.

Where's that eye-rolling emoticon when you need him?

Egad -- Night Below is one hell of a monstrosity to convert. Thing was a bloody boxed set in and of itself! Somehow I doubt that one'll get done, just due to the sheer massiveness of it.

That being said, it was the first adventure I ran in 3rd Ed -- converting everything on the fly, and it did result in some of the lines that are now classics in my gaming group. (Rogue picks up the severed head of a Rakshasa, holds it up in front of her face and dances around saying, "I'm a Rakshasa! I'm a Rakshasa!")

Night Below.

This, updated to 4E, would be my favorite thing ever. I've run two 2E parties through the campaign and cribbed from it liberally for any 3E campaigns that involved the underdark. I would have to say that I found Night Below to be superior to any other underdark adventure published by TSR or WoTC.
