I took the constructive criticism of the Claviger v1.0 and retooled the class into this second form. Please feel free to add your 2cp and help me make a PrC worth playing.



Claviger “Club-Bearer”
Claviger is an elven term with two meanings. Meaning “Bearer of the Keys” as well as “Club Bearer”, both definitions are instructive with regards to the Claviger prestige class. Clavigers are generally assigned as master bodyguards to protect individuals important to their church, or to defend their faith in ways that Paladins cannot.
Clavigers are selected as youths, exclusively from within church supported orphanages. These rootless children are singled out from their peers because of their potential, few of the selected ever go on to complete the rigorous training regimen. Those that do complete the process are among the sharpest weapons against evil within the Elven arsenal. Claviger training emphasizes motion, and action to confuse his enemies, and obscure his movements. The mental discipline of a Claviger requires daily meditative preparation. The Claviger is required to engage in 1 hour of meditation or devotional prayer per day. The nature of these devotions is up to negotiation between the player and game master.

Requirements: Race (Any Elven, or Half-Elven), Alignment (Lawful Good or Lawful Neutral), Hide (8 ranks), Move Silently (8 ranks), Tumble (8 ranks)

Class Skills: The Claviger’s class skills (and the key ability for each skill) are Appraise (Int), Balance (Dex), Bluff (Cha), Climb (Str), Craft (Int), Decipher Script (Int), Diplomacy (Cha), Disguise (Cha), Escape Artist (Dex), Gather Information (Cha), Hide (Dex), Intimidate (Cha), Jump (Str), Knowledge (Any) (Int), Listen (Wis), Move Silently (Dex), Profession (Wis), Search (Int), Sense Motive (Wis), Spot (Wis), Swim (Str), and Tumble (Dex).

Skill Points at Each Level: 4 + Int Modifier
Armor and Weapon Proficiency: As the Monk.

Monk Abilities: A Claviger adds his prestige class level to his monk levels to determine his Save Progression, AC bonus, his unarmed strike damage, the penalty he takes when using a flurry of blows, his speed, and his ki strike. He does not gain any other benefits of advancing monk levels however.

Aura of Courage (Su): Beginning at 1st level, a Claviger is immune to fear (magical or otherwise). Each ally within 10 feet of her gains a +2 morale bonus on saving throws against fear effects. This ability functions while the Claviger is conscious, but not if he is unconscious or dead.

Canny Defense (Ex): At 1st level, and every other level thereafter (3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th.) a Claviger adds 1 point of Intelligence bonus (if any) his Dexterity bonus to modify Armor Class when not wearing armor or using a shield. If a Claviger is caught flat-footed or otherwise denied his Dexterity bonus, he also loses this bonus.

Reflexive Action (Ex): At 2nd level, a Claviger gains a +4 bonus on initiative checks. This effect does not stack with the effects of Improved Initiative.

Wholeness of Body (Su): At 3rd level or higher, a Claviger can heal his own wounds. He can heal a number of hit points of damage equal to twice his current monk level each day, and he can spread this healing out among several uses.

Enhanced Mobility (Ex): At 4th level, when wearing no armor and not using a shield, a Claviger gains an additional +4 bonus to AC against attacks of opportunity caused when he moves out of a threatened square.

Uncanny Dodge (Ex): Starting at 5th level, a Claviger can react to danger before his senses would normally allow him to do so. He retains his Dexterity bonus to AC (if any) even if he is caught flat-footed or struck by an invisible attacker. However, he still loses his Dexterity bonus to AC if immobilized.

Deep Impact (Ex): At 6th level when attacking using unarmed strikes, or special monk weapons (kama, nunchaku, quarterstaff, sai, shuriken, and siangham) the Claviger may use a touch attack to resolve critical hits.

Elaborate Defense (Ex): At 7th level and higher, if a Claviger chooses to fight defensively or use total defense in melee combat, he gains an additional +1 dodge bonus to AC for each level of Claviger he has.

Keen Strike (Ex): At 8th level the Claviger’s unarmed attacks may be resolved as bludgeoning, slashing, or piercing as desired.

Cloak Dance (Su): At 9th level a Claviger may take a move equivalent action to obscure his exact position. Until his next turn the Claviger has concealment 50% against his enemies.

Ghostwalk (Su): At 10th level, a Claviger gains the ability to become invisible for 1 round per level per day, as though using the spell improved invisibility. He may become invisible on any number of different occasions during a single day, as long as the total number of rounds spent invisible does not exceed his Claviger level.
