Cleric of Wee Jas - View of Undead?

Does anyone know anything about the "official" word of how clerics of Wee Jas view undead? As a LN god of death and magic, it seems like there are a number of ways it could go.

Thanks,
Jason

Well, since Wee Jas is a god of death, I would assume that since undead are really just shirking death - especially the liches and other intelligent undead. It's more of an insult to death, and insult to the god of death. I would say he's not partcularly fond of the undead.

Naaah, Wee Jas hearts the undead....she sounds like she'd be the patron of liches and other creatures that use magic to defy the laws of nature. In fact, I see her as the patron of the mad scientists and demented mages who are perfectly ordered and systematic in their rutheless pursuit of magical power trumping the laws of life and death. Undead are a display of the raw power of magic, not vile, reprehensible things, but miracles that Wee Jas enables.

It is weird that she's neutral but loves undead, but I guess she's not as interested in soul-corrupting evil as creatures like Nerull are. The undead are miracles, but there are other miracles, too...

I would say that it is up to the cleric, with the LG ones not liking them, the LE ones probably liking them, and the LN ones going either way. Since one of the offered domains for Wee Jas is Death, and there are several "create undead" spells on that list, it would seem to me that the god herself favors, or at least doesn't object to, the existence of undead.

Personnally, I think along the lines of Viashimo. I created a new domain, 'the dead' to give my LN death god, and instead of 'create undead' spells, it contains spells which destroy undead.

At one point, Wee Jas officially disliked undead. I think that in 3E, where she's basically presented as a collection of stats and a generic "death and magic" goddess, it makes sense to have her friendly with the undead, though. Especially given that she has the power to control them.

Deities & Demigods and Defenders of the Faith don't specify exactly on the matter, but it looks like Wee Jas has no problem with undead. Necromancers are mentioned amongst her common followers, and her dogma relates to the use of magic to gain power and security. Her three example clerics in Defenders of the Faith all rebuke/command undead, and all three are lawful neutral, and one is multiclassed as a necromancer specialist wizard. So all signs from those two official sources are, albeit not quite spelled out directly, pointing to the fact that Wee Jas has no enmity for the undead, and certainly has no problem with her priests controlling undead forces.

Tauric, y'know, there's already been a Repose domain in Deities & Demigods that is essentially the Death domain but for good clerics and any clerics who don't want to create undead; only Anubis, Nephthys, and Osiris grant the domain though, amongst the deities in that book. The Repose domain has no undead-creating spells and no spells of the Evil descriptor; instead it has spells like Undeath to Death, and Surelife.

Also, personally, as the Repose domain was added in Deities & Demigods yet was not given to any of the core pantheon's deities (only a few pharaonic pantheon deities), not even Wee Jas, lends further credence to the fact that Wee Jas (in 3E at least) has no problem with undead.

In Greyhawk, she hates the undead. In any given GM's campaign, it could be different. However, the god of undead is Nerull. Wee Jas has a rivalry with Nerull, and so undead is a touchy issue.

One Living Greyhawk scenario had some Wee Jas followers casting spells on the dead in a graveyard to prevent them from rising as undead. (It was a "Core" module, so you may recognize it if you're an LG fan.)

There's more information about Wee Jas there, including the fact that the official Wee Jas has had her domain moved to be "Repose."

If I recall correctly there are different opinions on this within the Church of Wee Jas. Probably split along the alignment axis there are those, who see undead as good tools (maybe even as blessings by the goddess or a reflection of her portefolio) and those, who see undead as the antithesis of the true death embodied by Wee Jas.
