The problem with Tolkien's elves is that they are plain superior to the other races in his books. They would suck as an RPG race.Zweischneid said:Elrond's not an Elf...

I don't have a good answer to that point since I don't have any statistics to back my opinions up. From what I have seen (and experienced), players generally don't like when someone else's PC is stronger than their PC over the board. I think many people think like that since a large part of a RPG forum often is taken up by balance problems.Zweischneid said:Why would it? I've played many a middle-earth rpg and they're great. Despite being so superior, elves don't get any extra limelight in the LoTR-Tale either.
Similarly, I've played many games of D&D in the old days where lvl 2 rogues side with lvl 20 wizards, etc.. .
People need to get off that balance mirage... live's not in balance, and neither is a good fantasy tale.
He's an eladrin, is what he is.pawsplay said:He's 3/4 elf, but they had to cut his race from the PHB for space.
Roleplaying games aren't real life and they aren't tales.Zweischneid said:People need to get off that balance mirage... live's not in balance, and neither is a good fantasy tale.

Oh, right.
Yes. Yes he is. Tolkien half elves are not a seperate race, or a mixed breed. Half elves have to choose between their parentage, after which they are either elf or mortal. Elrond chose to be an immortal elf and go into the West and his brother chose the Gift of Men and his spirit left Arda after he died. It isn't genetics. It is choice.Zweischneid said:Elrond's not an Elf...
