Clerics' Spontaneous Casting

I need a little help to find the reference about time required to a Cleric to spontaneously casting a Cure xxx Wounds spell (or Inflict xxx Wounds): in this forum we usually talked about spontaneous casting needing a Full Round Action instead of a Standard Action. Is it right? Is it a house rule, an official rule or a sage advice? Since I cannot find it written in my copy of the PHB, could anyone please direct me to where I can find this? Thanks.

Check p78. The only time it takes a full round is if they're applying Metamagic to a spontaneous spell, just like Bards and Sorcerers.

Let me add a consideration: if it is still a standard action, do all Clerics prepare OTHER spells because they don't need to prepare Cure xxx Wounds at all, since it does not cost a thing to replace a prepare spell with a Cyre xxx Wounds?

First, let me apologize: I brought up the incorrect "spontaneous casting as a full-round action" recently - I was going off an old draft of the rules. It is a standard action, no more.

Generally, yes. The only major exceptions:
* Clerics with the Healing domain, who often prep healing spells in slots that don't have a good spell from their other domain
* Clerics who spontaneously inflict instead of cure

You better believe it :)

As long as they channel positive energy, that is. The only time a positive-channeling cleric would prepare a Cure spell is if Healing is one of his domains.

Negative-channeling clerics need to put a bit more thought into it sometimes :)

You forgot to add "--Repetitive Hypersmurf".

When I was back in college in CS I had TA's like Greathouse and Hypersmurf. Didn't matter when you were in the lab they had the answer to your question 15 seconds after you asked it and were always competing with each other over who could get you the answer first. I always wondered when they slept...

Sleep? What's that?

Seriously, I'm surprised that we post at the same time, as we're in very different time zones (I'm in EST, GMT -5:00).
