Cleric's turning ability + paladin's turning ability

One of my players wants to make a cleric15/paladin5 in the group and he says that the number of turnings per day of cleric stacks with the number of turnings of the paladin. So, he would have 3 + char turnings for the cleric and 3 + char turnings for the paladin. I said to him that the number of turnings doesn't stack, the only thing that stack are the levels to determinate the the turning level of the cleric(18 in this case, 15 for cleric and 3 for paladin). Am i wrong? Or it's correct?

Also, casually put a Magnum .45 on the table, that way players won't argue with you

nice joke joker.

Someone knows where i find this rule because that stupid players says that just believe what he see.

I can only find the rule that says that cleric and paladin levels stack in case of turning under the Multi-Class section. However, I don't see any specific reference to the number of turning attempts.

I was gonna say something good, but my brain died.

And I wasn't joking, it's an on-line tip I found.

Enjoy.

So can he show you where he saw that rule?

If you and he are just reading the rules in the Classes chapter and interpreting them differently, your interpretation wins because you're the DM.

Actualy, I believe that under cleric, paladin, and turning, they all state that the levels simply stack for determining effective turning level. Which generaly means that other benifits do not stack, such as number of turnings a day.

Exactly. You either have turn undead, or you don't. You don't have it twice.

PHB, v.3.5, page 159, under Turn Undead. You can turn undead a number of times per day equal to 3 + Charisma modifier. You can increase this number by taking the Extra Turning feat.

This particular rule is actually under "Multiclassing"

Class Features: A multiclass character gets all the class features of all his or her classes but must also suffer the consequences of the special restrictions of all his or her classes. (Exception: A character who acquires the barbarian class does not become illiterate.) In the special case of turning undead, both clerics and experienced paladins have the same ability. If the character’s paladin level is 4th or higher, her effective turning level is her cleric level plus her paladin level minus 3.
