So they opted to imitate the line-drawn heavily "stylized" animation of the 2D series. I'm not sure that's a great idea, but I'll watch it. Like many folks, I thought Clone Wars evoked more of the original Star Wars than any of the last three movies.

Whilst I certainly enjoyed the Clone Wars shorts more than the prequels, I still had some issues with them. My main beef being the overpowering portrayal of the Jedi (the same could be said of the prequels). Now I know these guys are supposed to be gifted in the use of the Force, but it kinda takes away from their mystique when they jump around like rejects from a wuxia flick or flip giant spaceships with a wave of their hands. Twas much better in the original trilogy, when Luke and Vader only occasionally showed signs of power the Force had granted them.

Lucasfilm has pretty much said that the events of Clone Wars are more of how those events were remembered in myth, legend and "old war stories" by the denizens of the Star Wars galaxy than the literal "truth" of those events. Mace Windu taking out an army single handedly, for example, was more of how that little boy we see at the end remembers it and tells the story in later years, and officially there was also a Clone army also present commanded by Windu that history does not recall so well. Vader: "The ability to destroy a planet is nothing compared to the power of the force."

Admiral: "OK then. Go ahead. Blow up a planet."

Vader: "Um...I could but I don't wanna!"

If you thought Clone Wars was over-the-top, wait until The Force Unleashed hits the shelves.

For that matter, Star Wars Saga doesn't hold back on the force much. Powers don't have anything to directly or indirectly limit their availability to low-level characters. Wanna throw force lighting at 1st level? No biggie.

I dunno, I really enjoyed all the over the top stuff. They've always hinted that guys like Yoda were incredibly powerful, so I thought it was cool to finally see what they could do.

I guess for me, Star Wars has never been about subtlety anyway. ;)

The trailer looked interesting. I think they manage to avoid the Uncanny Valley fine, while all animated characters still resemble the original actors. (I just hope the CGI acting is a bit better. [/cheap shot]). :)
