Close Bursts from large monsters

So, after replying to another thread, I thought maybe I've been reading bursts wrong. I (as well as all the LFR tables I've played at) play a close burst from a large (2x2) monster as radiating out x squares from the entire creature's space, not just a single origin square. So a large monster with a close burst 5 power affects a space 12 x 12 squares. But since the PHB only includes an image of a medium creature in its burst diagram, maybe it should be an 11 x 11 area with the origin square selected from one of the 4 the monster occupies. Thoughts?

My gut instinct is to say no, for no other reason than "how do you handle a burst 1?". Now, I don't know off hand if there are any large creatures with Burst 1 powers, but I'm sure that there's one somewhere...and if not, then you could probably add one in using a templates.

Considering the difficulty that this would cause, I would just assume that it's the same rules as always, and a Burst x radiates out x squares from the creature. While this might increase the overall area covered by the burst, it doesn't actually add any range to the powers. A Burst 5 still only affects an area 5 squares out from the target.

It pretty much has to consider the entire creature's space as the origin square (or origin squares). It really wouldn't make sense, mechanically or flavor-wise, to rule it any other way.
