So are these the only two sets that have huge boosters? And you can only get the huge figures if you buy a huge booster, right? All the other figures in all the other sets came in regular boosters, right? Minus the Icons of course. How about Blood War? Are there huge boosters for this set, or just regular boosters?

Blood Wars is a normal set.

If you have an FLGS, as opposed to just a LGS, you can usually negotiate a good discount on cases. It varies by store. I prefer to buy cases from my FLGS, and singles from Auggie (referenced earlier) and trade on line (though this seems to be slowing down for me).

I prefer to spend $10-20 more per case to support my FLGS, but others don't like to do that. I'm just offering it as a consideration.

OK, for a normal (non-huge set):

There are 24 Rares, 24 Uncommons and 12 Commons in the set.
A Booster pack gives you 1 Rare, 3 Uncommons and 4 Commons.

A Case (12 packs) gives you 12 Rares, 36 Uncommons, and 48 Commons. They are seeded so a case will normally give you 12 different rares (although some cases do give duplicates), 1 or 2 of each Uncommon, and 4 of each common.

The average is thus after two cases: 1 of each rare, 3 of each uncommon and 8 of each common. Generally you'll get some overlap in the rares (so, you'll have 12 rares once, 6 rares twice, and 6 rares missing; and you'll have 2-4 of each uncommon).

Cheers!

Alright, I think I've got all this figured out finally. One last question. If someone orders a "Huge" case (War of the Dragon Queen), which equals 6 Huge Booster Packs, do they pack the case so you don't get repeat Huge figures, or is it a total crap shoot?

Yep. WotDQ is 2 rare huges + 4 uncommon huges in a case; IIRC there are no repeats.

Cheers!

There are no repeat huge minis in the case, but those cases were known to have an easy to figure out placement system.

If you opened 1-2 boosters from a case and looked at the huge mini, you could pretty much figure out what the other huge minis will be in the rest of the boosters without opening them. I had about a 90% success rate on "guessing" the huge mini. We also learned that the boosters with the Nightmare art on the box never consisted of a rare huge mini. I personlly learned that that's not actually true. After opening my 15th case, I finally found a Nightmare art booster that had a rare huge :p

I read reports of at least 300-400 cases that people opened...and I only found 2 reports of a Nightmare art huge rare. Keep that in mind if you buy the booster separately.

Alright, sounds good.

I'm ready to buy some.

Who/Where are people ordering their cases from?

I haven't bought anything from them but www.miniaturemarket.com has always been quick to respond to my e-mails. Their prices are very good too.

www.gameoutfitter.com seems to be the cheapest place to get minis from by the case. However they have only responded to about half the e-mails that I have sent them (and usually after a couple of days when they did actually respond). I have also read posts on the www.maxminis.com boards that they were slow in sending out preorders from a newly released set. Some people received them weeks after the set was released, meaning that they missed out on the "trading frenzy" that occurred straight after the release of the new set. I haven't seen anyone say that they didn't receive their order, just that it took a while to get to them.

You might also see what sort of deal you can work out with your Friendly Local Gaming Store (FLGS).

This sort-of held true for me. I bought a WotDQ booster with the Dracolich art instead of the Nightmare art after being told about the cover art distribution oddity. I haven't bought one with the Nightmare art yet though.

The other bonus I found was that my booster, which had the Sorcerer on Black Dragon as the Rare Huge, also had a medium Rare of Tordek, Dwarf Champion in it. It had only had 2 Uncommons instead of the 3 that are in a normal booster. Is this normal for a WotDQ booster that has a Rare Huge mini in it or did I just get lucky?

This is normal.

A WotDQ booster will have 8 minis in, distributed as follows...
* One Huge figure, either "Rare" or "Uncommon". (There is 1 rare in every 3 packs)
* One Rare figure (medium or large) from the non-Huge pool.
* Two Uncommon figures from the non-Huge pool.
* Four Common from the non-Huge pool.

Cheers!
