Clueless...Educate Me About D&D Miniatures.

Zaukrie, did you get my e-mail? Any closer to letting me know what minis you have available? I have bought a few more boosters so I also have some to trade now if you are interested.

As for your card order problem, I'd just go with alphabetical order. Then all you have to know is what the name of the mini is. Since it is listed on the mini base that shouldn't be too hard.

I have to ask, from the sounds of things most of the ppl posting here have reasonable collections of minis.

I wouldn't call it reasonable. I would call it crazily huge. ;)

Out of curiosity, how do you all store your minis? I'm struggling to find the best way to stash mine.

Which 2 tiny minis will be rare?

Not rare rare. I mean that there aren't many tiny figures around. All tiny figures we had so far were uncommon, and I guess they will remain uncommon - maybe they'll do some common ones, too, but that's it.

Also, Paizo sells minis in theme-packs.

I strongly advise against buying any minis from Paizo. They make some great magazines, but their prices are rediculous for minis. Auggies is much more reasonable.

In general, boosters at retail are a bad deal. If you just want some figures to play with, even cases are a bad deal compared to buying commons/uncommons on ebay. Huge packs are pretty much ALWAYS bad deals at any price, unless you can somehow guarantee yourself a huge rare.

I agree with you about not buying singles from Paizo. There are a number of cheaper places to buy singles from. Auggies is one. Hubb's Wholesale is another. Hubb tends to be more expensive than Auggies for most of the minis but some are cheaper. Hubb's also has a lot of singles from the older sets. Auggie's tends to not have many minis from GoL or earlier.

I disagree with you to a certain extent about cases being a bad deal if you want figure to play with. So far most of the "monster" type creatures (i.e. the ones in the MM's) have been rares. If you want to get them for your game you either have to buy them online as singles or get them from the boosters.

Buying a case will give you half of the rares of a given set since duplicate rares in a set are now very unlikely. They will also give you 4 each of the Common and either 1 or 2 of each Uncommon. This means that you will have most of the minis that you need. You may still need to buy or trade for a few rares that you wanted, but didn't get in the boosters but you will be most of the way there.

If you don't buy a case then you may have to buy over 10+ rares as singles. This can be quite expensive. For example, the Beholder mini has sold for over $50 on eBay on many occasions. If there are a couple of highly desireable minis like that in a set then you can definitely be better off buying a set.

Of course if you don't plan on trading minis at all then you may be better off buying singles.

As for the Huge sets, I have been very fortunate so far as the 2 boosters that I have bought have both had huge rares in them (as well as a Griffon Cavalry (large rare) and Tordek (medium but very desireable rare).

Hubb's also sends overseas, that's a big plus for all those who populate the other continents.
