[CoC] WotC Support?

Just to point out that you really wouldn't be converting BRP to d20. It would be more like taking out the BRP and plugging in the d20 stuff. No real conversion.

It would make it easier than it seems.

Personally, I'd rather use the Cthulhu ruleset for stuff that's not so forcibly Lovecraftian. Anyone seen that new Miracles show on ABC Monday nights? That's the kind of stuff I'd like to use the CoC rulebook for, and it's not really "Cthulhoid" at all in tone. But those three folks could almost be an iconic CoC investigator party, and those set-ups are just as eerie and creepy as anything Lovecraft ever wrote, if not moreso. In fact, I find Lovecraftian "horror" to not be really horrible: it's just too odd to really scare me or touch any primal nerves.

Anyway, there's my little gripe about Cthulhu -- I'd like to see the rules used for other types of horror games, not just reprints of old CoC stuff based on actual Lovecraft novellas. Although The Case of Charles Dexter Ward would make a good set-up: much more the kind of stuff I like than At the Mountains of Madness.

Josh: Have you seen the Resident Evil supplemtal? It is quite easy to change the source of the Mythos. Just make a plot revoling around similar events that take place in Mericles and change the Cthulhu Mythos skill to a Mericles Skill and it would probably work great (granted that I have only seen the comercials for Mericles but...). There is also the Hellraiser Supplemtal. Now granted these are fan products, but they are very easy to come by and free.

I just played CoC for the first time this weekend at the Chicago Gameday, and loved the experience!! I already have a group shaping up here at home for me to DM, and the provided sample adventures along with the Jenkin download at WotC, will get me started. But where do I go for material from there? I've read most of this thread, and it sounds like Chaosium is/will be producing some dual stat stuff...but how do I acquire these items? Any website recommendations?

Over time, I plan on developing my campaign based on what the players like. But in the early going, I'd like to use some pregen stuff to test the waters and get comfortable running a CoC game.

Chaosium's home page is a good place to start. They partner with Wizard's Attic, so you can buy books directly from their site. If you prefer, you can also order pretty much everything they produce at Amazon.com.

Not to mention, they have a truckload of free PDF adventures here. Granted, these are going to be BRP, not d20, but converting is pretty simple.

There are also some third-party companies that make CoC products, the most higly acclaimed being Delta Green by Pagan Publishing. It's basically Chtulhu, X-Files style. The main DG book is currently out of print, but a d20 version will be coming along at some point.

It also can't hurt to read some Lovecraft, if you have yet to do so.

Thanks for the tips Buzz. I have read Lovecraft, but want some helpful adventure suggestions/ideas during my infancy stage of DMing for CoC. After that, I'm quite sure I'll be fine...then it's the players who will have to worry !
