Throughout the fae lands their are gateways into the mortal world these gateways (known as Trodes) are often disguised and might be formed between to stones or where two trees standing beside a road entwine their branches. Other gateways might be formed by mushroom rings, as a cleft in a seemingly solid wall or even as moonlight reflecting on a pond.
Temporary Trodes can be formed by Magic, Bard song or Fae Dancing and there are a few known as 'Portals' who can open Trodes at will.

The Order of Johannes attempt to find such Trodes, and, although they cannot destroy them, at least seal them or build fortifications around them.

Trodes are sought after and either guarded or destroyed by specially trained agents the Goblinoid Empire called Traedye (does someone have a better name?). It is seen that those who can sing or cause trodes to appear by force of will or magic are cursed as much ill seems to happen to them or to those they care about; this is either through the will and actions of the Traedye the or the capricious nature or fey magic.

In ages past Giants, and Fey worked hand in hand, giants built the great halls in Faerie, that housed the Seelie Court, they built the magical walls that kept the mortal kind out, when it came time to pay the giants for their work the price which they'd agreed to, that being the Hand of the the Fey Kings daughter, the fey refused the giants their pay. The War soon followed, and Baerlleod has never forgotten the slight.
The Jothun, deeply spiritual giants, were able to build the Dream Realm by weaving Dreams with Nightmares and Savrael sap (which is impervious to dreamstuff), the dreams of mortals were contained and condensed to create the Realm.
The Seelie Court is the dream of a slumbering Jothun, to be able to build it, the giants had to use one of their number as conduit through which to access the Dream Realm. Thanks to the mistic traditions of the Jothun and the intervention of the Fae, the Dreamer of the Seelie is eternally slumbering. There are many of these "conduit/dreamers" (one for each permanent location in the Realm, although some of the locations are product of dreamers other than giants), which is allowed by the nigh-immortality of the Jothun.

When the Fey didn't pay the price they'd agreed, Baelleod caused a second realm to be created in much the same way as the first, and the Unseelie Court was born, or more correctly corrupted. These fey are all dark and vile, working on the side of the Goblins, and Trolls, they call themselves the Neph, which in the common tongue translates to Dark. and their own name for their land is Nephelheim. While evil, and in the service of the goblinoid empire they appear to be beautiful, and alluring to mortal kind. In this way they steal the dreams from the Seelie, and nourish themselves.

The Unseelie, Neph are in many ways the same in appearance as the Seelie, though something unusual is often associated with their appearance such as slight horns, or hooved feet.

Of course over time there has been migration between the Courts so that Neph can be found in the Seelie Courts as good and as pure as the new spring lamb (for we have seen how many of those things die) and Aelfin can be found in the Unseelie Courts as cruel and as twisted as the thorn (for the thorn too is part of the rose). The Fae are not bound by the limits of good and evil but move in a more fluid tradition

The Traedye are behind the Order of Johannes, manipulating these stout knights. In fact, Traedye intelligence is what allows the order to strike so effectively at Trodes or other points of importance for the Fae without the Order actually having any link with the Fae. The spiritual leader of the Order, Johannes the Younger, is actually the magical masquerade of a Kobold.

Saw this on a link over at the CBG, thought I'd get involved. :p

The Court of Storms, whilst not a 'true' fae court by normal standards, is ruled over by an usurping half-elemental named as Tymestl, known for his brooding nature and violent outbursts. Deep in the dream-realm, his fortress is constructed atop a rocky crag bursting forth from a seemingly endless sea. The weather changes depending on his mood, meaning that it is generally stormy - his attempts to be recognised as his own power and not be looked down upon by the Aelfkin fail constantly. He has taken to stealing Jacks from ship-crews, influencing them through dreams and his power over the weather. His home, the aforementioned fortress, shifts in form frequently as mortal dreams affect it, but it is always in a state of stormwracked disrepair.

Besides the Courts of the Seasons there are other "royal fey" (at least that's how they refer to themselves, much to the ire of the Seasonal Kings and Queens). These alternate royal courts rule over the natural features of the fey realm -- the earth, water, and sky. And more elementals and elemental fey are friendlier to and found amongst to the elemental courts because of the shared "blood."

Tymestl is in fact the son of the Lord of Water, his mother an ancient and powerful Air Elemental with no name. However, he is a family Pariah to some extent, and is kept in check to a large degree by his father - although he has dominion over at least a little of his father's claimed powers. At present, Tymestl has a varying amount of control over sea-weather and the sea itself, but lusts for control over ALL weather and rulership of the Court of Water.
