I was waiting for someone to make that joke, thank you.I'm not sure why you want a collage of dancing instead of a college, but okay ...

3-6-14 feels fairly normal. As @UngeheuerLich points out, magical secrets at 10 can act to support your subclass so seeing it as 3-6-10-14 is not so bad.I had forgotten how large the gap between bard sublcass features were. Yet another victim of non-standardized subclass levels...
Maybe they can finally give us a use for Performance.Dazzling Footwork adds Dance Virtuoso (ribbon: advantage on Performance checks that involve dance)
Rogue has a 6 level gap, right were most play occurs, I think they have it worst. The Rogue gets 3-9-13-17
The Warlock 1-6-10-14
The Fighter is 3-7-10-15-18
The Wizard 2-6-10-14
Same for the Druid, 2-6-10-14
The Sorcerer is 1-6-14-18, now THAT is bad.
Yeah, it's really weird. I guess they had too much base class features to stick in there? Looking at it, at 6th they get an extra Expertise and I feel like that they could have gotten another subclass feature right there.Rogue has a 6 level gap, right were most play occurs, I think they have it worst.
Actually they have the same progression as Barbarians (3-6-10-14) if you consider the 10th level magical secret as a replacement for a subclass feature. They get more Magical Secrets at 14 and 18 which are also subclass levels in other class... Weirdly, the Bard gets expertise and a bump to inspiration right on 6th level, but don't have a feature at 7th or 11th level...Bard has the same subclass progression as the sorcerer, barring the 18th label feature. I'm not sure that I would say bard is fine, but sorcerer has it bad.
I guess I wouldn't consider magical secrets as a subclass feature, though it's free form enough I do sort of understand why you might. (Do warlocks get a bunch of subclass levels in this framework?)Actually they have the same progression as Barbarians (3-6-10-14) if you consider the 10th level magical secret as a replacement for a subclass feature. Here are my notes for anyone who can't/doesnt want to watch the video
- No real talk about the base class mechanics (what is spell casting going to look like?). I assume WotC want that for themselves.
- Dance bard discusions starts at about the 8 minute mark.
I had forgotten how large the gap between bard sublcass features were. Yet another victim of non-standardized subclass levels...
- 3rd lvel still gets unarmourd defence and psuedo-martial arts (better than barbarian unarmored defence)
- 6th level has a reaction movement ability and a way to boost initiatives via spending inspiration
- 14th level now has super evaion (You and an ally within 5ft get evasion)
I forgot to mention the Warlock get their Pact Boon at 3rd level and that's a sort of subclass too so their progression becomes 1-3-6-10-14.I guess I wouldn't consider magical secrets as a subclass feature, though it's free form enough I do sort of understand why you might. Regarding the 7th and 11th levels, I thought that one of the goals in the UA was removing "dead" levels. Am I misremembering? Not that we know what bard will look like.
