Combat Challenge - PCs vs Dragon

Really, someone should take a cleric with the reach feat and the harm spell, I am telling you, that will save the day. once you get past the spell resistance, but if you get your spell off first, and then an archer hits the dragon, that's one dead dragon.

Sorry - no time, even though this sounds like a ton of fun. :) When we were playtesting monsters for 3e, I set the 20th lvl iconic PCs up against a big dragon. When it threw Tordek through a prismatic wall, we knew things were going to get interesting.....

I don't know if I have the time to participate in the battle, unless it's around this time of day (while I'm at work) when it comes around. So I thought I'd just throw him up there for anyone who wants to pilot him.

Don't forget guys to have a high spell power wizard with a greater metamagic rod of quickening to throw 2-5 Disjunctions on the dragon in the first couple of rounds.

You do NOT want to fight an antimagic shielded great wyrm. :)

I think we should agree on a DM first, and then submit the characters to him... Or simply make "Dragon" and "PCs" threads either here or in the in character forums, and post stats only to the appropriate threads - assuming that we're all willing to be adults about it and not peek at what the other side is writing up.

Another issue - what are we doing as far as party balance? Do we want to go with a more-or-less balanced party, or should we just try for a way to throw as much high-level magic at the thing as possible? I'm inclined not to get too munchy about this - I've been thinking about seeing how much I can do with an ordinary, 20th level single class rogue...

This last weekend we did a combat just like the one your planning to do... my suggestion DONT DO IT !

All involved will have super duper spells... the Dragon will be huge... we had to play on the floor tiles in order to represent the scale of the combat !!! CR25 dragons are like small-med buildings in size !!!

If you still want to go ahead... I suggest the Dragon color be chosen secretly to avoid easy buying of protection magic. Min maxing will make all characters distorted and overfocused.... DMing a Dragon the size of a small table if compared to other miniatures is a problem. Rules for high level spells are a nightmare... we are having a week of e-mail bashing my DM rulings during the game which barely started before going haywire...

How tall is the Dragon will be a issue for example too... his base is 80 x 40 but what about height.... etc... Forbid arrows of slaying naturally.... Anti Magic Field is obnoxious spell but cant or can be enlarged ? and so on....

Suggestions for Draconic Tactics...

You have been warned... this combat is a nightmare in logistics and rules... :(

In any smart party, they would do extensive research into the dragon, which is why I'll give them the color... but that's it :)

And, as it's taking place on the board, we'll let the DM decide the easiest way to run this out.

And I hope no one is cheesy enough to take the arrow of slaying route, it won't work :)
