Combate Exp. + Fighting Defensivly

Likely it is more of a problem with full defense than anything else. Maybe full defense should be changed to something like a 50% misschance instead.

Also, if you check the description of Fighting Defensively in the 3.5 PHB (not the SRD, the physical book), it explicitly states that it stacks with Combat Expertise.

There's not much room for argument :)

One feat (Combat Expertise), that's the trade-off
It can be a trade-off, but it is not consistent with the rest as described in the feat's description (i.e., subtract X from BAB and add X to AC).

If you want, add it as a Special paragraph. That way, the character have AC bonus vs. enemy's ranged attack, as opposed to Mobility which granted AC bonus only against enemy's AoO. Heck you can stack them (TD + CE + Mobility) when you are moving about, foregoing your attacks.

Don't forget that 5 ranks in tumble makes that fighting defensively AC bonus a +3 instead of +2.

It's pretty cool for mr whirlwind to get a +8 AC when he needs to hold out for another 2 rounds.

I wonder why that is in the PHB and not the SRD. It can't be product identity; I guess it's just rules sloppiness.

Anyway, because I can read the SRD online more readily than I can read my PHB, I am more familiar with the SRD. And I keep making the stupid stupid mistake of thinking that they are substantively the same.

And 5 ranks in tumble plus a feat (TWD) give you a +5 to AC for a -4 to hit.
