Hello Everyone and welcome to the New Boards. I'm going to start this new board off by posting some information regarding The Meeting Place, the ISRP Area's upcoming D20 Roleplaying room. On the old boards we discussed several issues and I would like just to point them out for a moment here.

What is The Meeting Place, where is it located, what do I need to know?

The Meeting Place is a Night Club situated in the year 2030 in New York. Manhattan was the city decided upon. It will be based upon the D20 Modern Handbook, more details to be posted as the room is further created (it's still in the creative stages).

When will The Meeting Place become reality?

Well that all depends on the new chat client. As the old boards had said, we're awaiting the new chat client to be able to open the room. There is currently no set date on this. All you can do is wait. As soon as we hear something, we'll let you guys know. Reesa's Update: The word from the powers that be is that we're now looking at the new year for the room to be created, possibly earlier.

Who are the Coordinators for The Meeting Place?

That would be WizO Reesa. You can write me at reesa@wizardsmoderator.com

Where will we find discussions about the Meeting Place?

Most of the discussions will take place on the Rules Board. Make sure to subscribe to that and check it often. As we can discuss things for the room, we'll be posting those discussions on the boards.

Any other questions/comments/concerns you can write me directly. :)

Thanks!
Reesa

I have not yet considered what kind of character I will create for use in such a room. Either way I'm sure this will make a nice change in things. I look forward to having memorable roleplaying exhanges, in the context of this new setting, with the other players in our community.

just testing

The image I had displayed on here no longer works so I've removed it for now.

I can only hope and pray that players will pay attention to the setting and adhere to it. For example:

No teleporting in and out of the place. Remember, we're going for secrecy and subtlety here. Teleportation might possibly exist, in the form of alien technology or magic, but should not be used openly because (a) it's extemely rare in this setting, and (b) it's a stupid thing to do, as it immediately pegs your character as something other than an everyday Joe.

In a similar vein, no open displays of magic or supernatural powers. Such things are supposed to be unknown to the local populace and will only provoke a negative reaction. "Boys, you're scaring the normal folks!"

No waving weapons around, or wearing them as fashion accessories. Remember, this is New York City in the not-so-distant future. Weapons are frowned upon here, and may earn you a trip downtown for questioning, at the very least. Keep 'em concealed.

Have your character appear as human, at least superficially. Any obviously non-human characters will earn a response like that one scene from the movie Animal House. (College kids unknowingly enter an ethnic bar... music stops, dead silence, patrons stare ominously at them... "We are gonna die.")

Remember that this setting is D20 Modern, so anything that is not found in this gaming style should NOT appear here. Or if you absolutely insist, have it disguised so that it does fit in. ("Nice outfit. Did you lose a bet? Or are you on your way to a costume party?")

Same goes for kids. It's a bar, not the local McDonalds. Minors will not be permitted on the premises, if they do not have anywhere to go the local Social Welfare may do.

Similarly, animals may be sent to the pound. If NY is like here, the few excptions would be seeing-eye dogs (for the blind), but such dogs are in harness, not roaming around without their partner's hand firmly on the lead and certainly not snitching food, barking or growling at people or wandering around making friends. Guide dogs are far better behaved than animals we see currently in the CRT.

That's a bit difficult. I'm afraid you'll have to leave the heavy artillery out in your car, Dante. The most you'd be able to hide would be a pistol, or maybe a sawed-off shotgun under a bulky coat. But you'd look pretty suspicious wearing a heavy overcoat all the time...

The only kind of character who should be wearing a gun openly should also be wearing an NYPD uniform - which s/he has earned by going through the academy and patrolling on the streets.
