Yeah, I'm not sure which is worse:

"My specialty is not being special. Well, except I want that special feat. Bonuses are fine, skills too, whatever, but really I'm here for the feat. You allow feats, right? Good, because I heard this one starts with a feat. Did I mention the feat?"

or

"I'm a magic-wielding magical person with the innate power of magical magic, and that pretty much makes me better than anyone else. Oh look, my focus is in Dexterity too, I bet that'll come in handy. And I can see in the dark. And I can use bows, and swords. And..."

or

"I'm different purely for the sake of being different! Look, this one's made of ooze! And this one's got a turtle shell/rabbit ears/the head of a preying mantis! Isn't that weird and original!?"

(I'm gonna go with dwarves and hobbits. I'll reassess after they get eliminated by the anti-LotR crowd.)

Terrapin Elf

The terrapin elves are a thoughtful and cautious people with a hard natural shell that befits their nature. They adapted from millenia of chilling out with ancient tortoises to learn from their wisdom.
  • Ability Score Increase. Your Wisdom score increases by 1.
  • Tortoise Shell. Due to your shell and the shape of your body, you are ill-suited to wearing armor. Your shell provides ample protection, however; it gives you a base AC of 17 (your Dexterity modifier doesn't affect this number). You gain no benefit from wearing armor, but if you are using a shield, you can apply the shield's bonus as normal.
  • Slow and Steady. Your base walking speed is reduced to 25.
  • Land and Sea Mastery. You can hold your breath for an hour, and you have have a swim speed equal to your walking speed. In addition, you have a burrowing speed of 10.
  • Touch of the Genbu. You know the Shape Water cantrip. When you reach 3rd level, you can cast Create or Destroy Water once, and it recharges after a long rest. When you reach 5th level, you can cast Calm Emotions once, and it recharges after a long rest. You do not need the material components required of the spells. Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for these spells.

while i'm not surprised human is getting stomped on this early i don't exactly enjoy seeing it, human are only as 'boring' as you imagine them and the fact that hundereds of other media manage to be interesting with only humans attests to that, i was going to vote for hospitality halfling but seeing warforged so downvoted so soon i felt the need to vote for that first. why the hate for it?
My reason for downvoting it is very simple: If I don't work to make sure it's eliminated, it's practically guaranteed to win. Because humans are the ultimate "inoffensive blandness" option on the list. Even with conscious effort, it's still quite possible human might win because there are many variations (mostly via dragonmarks, which I doubt will win but it's possible.)

Human Fighters are always the most common characters in every edition, because (other than in 4e) that's the blander-than-unflavored-oatmeal character.

From Tolkein onwards, Elves Dwarves and Haflings are the originals. The roots of D&D. Newbies know of them. Would you vote out your grandparents?
Depends, are we talking maternal or paternal? Because I could not vote hard enough to vote out my paternal grandparents. They were both terrible human beings for reasons I wouldn't even speak of if doing so were permitted by forum rules. Which, I'm pretty sure, it wouldn't be.

My maternal grandparents were lovely people, particularly my grandmother. They might have not known how to grapple with some of the cultural shifts of the modern world, but I never knew her to say an unkind word of literally any other human being, ever.

this is part of why I hate elves they get to eat the magical and mystical slot whilst being arrogant and have a dull aesthetic they are just the worse.

I'm a sucker for archetypes, and Elf (I have loved the astral elf since the UA) is pretty much one of the pillars of Fantasy.

The fact they still can lean in so hard on what makes an Elf, an Elf, is why there are so many.

Edit: "and" twice, instead of an, dont post with your eyes hardly open kids...
