His art has incredibly strong textures going on. When I think of Wizards dueling I get the picture of "The Last Spell of Fistandantilus" in my head. His old cover for the 1e Waterdeep suppliment was great as well. Great beholder.

Parkinson's "Queen of the Spiders" and his Waterdeep suppliment cover with the beholder are both among my favorites. Whenever I think of Drow, I think of his work.

That guy was one baddass horse-thru-the city-riding-magic-missile-firing-town-guard-slaying mage!

Who's the black mage
that's a sex machine to all the chicks?
(Emirikol!)

You're damn right
Who is the man
that would risk his neck for his apprentice?
(Emirikol!)
Can ya dig it?

Who's the cat that won't cop out
when there's danger all about
(Emirikol!)
Right on

You see this cat Emirikol is a bad mother--
(Shut your mouth)
But I'm talkin' about Emirikol
(Then we can dig it)

He's a complicated man
but no one understands him but his woman
(Emirikol the Chaotic!)

Here's the pic (click to enlarge). Can ya dig? :D

Tim

Yep, that's the one! Thanks for posting that piece. I was going to scan it from the original module, but I didn't.

I had the module in front of me when I read your post so it didn't take much to scan it. ;) It happens to be one of my favourite classic modules.

Where do you find images like that on-line? Is there a Web site that has a lot of them or do you just Google it?

I scanned most of the images that I've posted from my own RPG collection (and comic collection for the old D&D comic ads). The Erol Otus pics I found online here & there, but a quick search on Google came up with this results:

http://minipainting-guild.net/eo/eoart.html
http://www.geocities.com/jrients/otus/otus.html

I also run a Jeff Dee Gallery so I already had a lot of his D&D art already scanned and ready to go. :)

Cheers,
Tim

Can someone please explain how to attach an image to a post so I can show you some of my favorites instead of posting links?

Just click on the IMG button at the top of the box where you type your reply. A javascript application should pop up asking for the url of the image that you want to add to your reply. Basically this javascript is just adding the word IMG before the url in square brackets (the ones next to the letter P on most keyboards) and a /IMG after the url.

Something like this (but use square brackets):
{IMG}http://paratime.ca/d20/d&d/pics/backscratch.jpg{/IMG}

and it should turn out looking something like this:

backscratch.jpg

Hope that helps. :)

Tim

Where was that completely incomprehensible illustration that had 2 adventurers lying apparantly dead infront of a pot-plant and a necklace in the corner of some room? 1st ed PHB or DMG I think?

Soon-to-be-Classic Wayne Reynolds Art

Out of the 3e artist stable, I think Wayne Reynolds is my favourite artist (with honourable mentions to Anthony Waters, Brian Snoddy & Todd Lockwood off hand). Here are some of his pics that I really enjoy (from Defenders of the Faith, the MM, and the Monsters of Faerun books):

Edit: Forgot the Bugbear image.

Cheers,
Tim
