Complete Adventurer, Spells and Special Abilities

Well, on Tuesdays, I game with another group, as opposed to my semi-functioning core group where I'm running Slavelords of Cydonia.

On Tuesdays, I'm a player. My current character? 2nd level rogue-2nd level paladin working on Shadowbane Inquisitor.

Yeah, I dig the book.

I think that adding more details to the PrCs in terms of organizations was also a good move but I'm sure we'll now have people complain that they didn't want THAT much detail and that WoTC is infringing on how they see the PrC.

It seems obvious that this book was about the multi classing making it nice that it supports those combos but making many of the items in there worthless since most people aren't playing thse combinations.

In our 15th level group we have an illusionist/rogue/arcane trickster, a ranger/wizard/harper mage/eldritch knight, a fighter cleric, a fighter/paladin/homebrew templar, and a druid nature's champion/homebrew shifter.

In your experience do most people in your games stay single classed?

I know the arcane trickster in our group would love that sneak attack constructs spell.

Very nice indeed.

Of course, losing 3 levels of spellcasting isn't fun (especially for a sorcerer), but NOT DYING makes up for it. ;)

I does.

AC 31 isn't that problematic, though. I mean, it's probably a little above average for that level. (My 10th & 11th level PCs have ACs from 20 to 28), but you still get hit by CR 8 Stone Giants (+17 attack) and other dedicated combat creatures.

My Dragon Flight feat keeps me way out of reach of melee combattants in most cases.

..and just when you think you're save, you roll a 1 for that saving throw...

Which is why I'm taking those fatespinner levels.

I'm telling ya mang, I've got it all covered. :D

I think Complete Adventurer has some good stuff, but I also think it will be a book that will prove more useful, generally, when people start up new campaigns, or create new characters for existing campaigns.

The multiclass options are good, but they're the kind of thing that are nice to have right from the beginning - so, I think the multiclassish feats will come into their own when people say "Hey, my new guys gonna be a Paladin/Bard! Cool!"

And there's nothing wrong with that.

I think that adding more details to the PrCs in terms of organizations was also a good move but I'm sure we'll now have people complain that they didn't want THAT much detail and that WoTC is infringing on how they see the PrC.

I won't say that, as I like seeing more flavor added, even if it isn't flavor I'll necessarily use, because it serves as a springboard for my own ideas. However... I will say I'd prefer to see PrCs with sketches of multiple, possible organizations.

So, instead of saying "This is the organization for Shadowbane Inquisitors", I'd rather see "Here's the Shadowbane Inquisitor, and it's abilities lend themselves well to these style of organizations. Here are some possibilities."

Of course, this is in part because I don't usually bother attaching PrCs to organizations at all - I just see them as expansive tools for channeling characters along a particular theme.
