How about a Tome of Trixie which features a whole new system (or THREE new systems) for dealing with magical skill stuff?

I'd totally buy that. -- N

I'm looking forward to Complete Scoundrel. Complete Adventurer, is , IMO the best of the Complete series so far and the last two "crunch heavy" books I bought from WotC (PHB II and Complete Mage) were excellent.

I'm hoping there are some nice rules to add cinematic bits like swinging from chandeliers, etc. similar to what was published in Dragon # (errr...need to look that up). There was an excellent article in Dragon a year or two back that had rules for crushing mooks with big statues or pillars, throwing opponents at other enemies and other nifty action stuff.

I also wouldn't mind seeing a 3.5e version of the old Blade kit from the old Complete Bards Handbook.

That makes two of us Paws.

Tome of Battle is no more a complete book than Tome of Magic was/is.

I can understand how some might see that "Battle/Warrior" but the two are no more alike than a Warblade is to say, a Barbarian.
Funny you should word it like that, because you can make a pretty good pseudo-Barbarian out of a Warblade. Iron Heart has the Rawr! I'm Conan! maneuvers and Tiger Claw has the Ooh, now I'm Wolverine! maneuvers.
Barbarians aren't all thog smash! There's the crafty predator in there too. ;)

If you can't find them, more power to you! Obviously, you and several others disagree. Me, I'm bailing out of this madness. Have done so since this summer.

IMO, far too much of the product released contains material that is ill-thought, uninspirational or not properly finished, to deserve my dollars any more. The dollar/usage factor for campaigns I lead is falling too rapidly.

I find "example NPCs of PrCs" to be space padding (uninspirational), as I do "Playing a X", "X in the world" and "X in the Game". This information is 1) not relevant to my game 2) consuming too much space. I can understand that some people enjoy it, but to me, it consumes far more space than I'm comfortable with. Couple that with the fact that fewer and fewer PrCs are actually interesting to me or my players.

Too many feats and spells are either ill-conceived, poorly worded or uninspirational.(IMO)

Tome of Magic, however, was highly inspirational, but unfortunately flawed in a seeming lack of playtesting (I'm at a loss to otherwise explain the result). It remains the most interesting book released to date, again, IMO.

Me, I love the Playing an X, X in the world, X in the game and, specially, "Adaptation". Not all PrClasses deserve all this attention, but it's generally a welcome addition.

I can see his point, though. They don't belong in my game, either. I've argued this point when the PrC format first changed and it remains. WotC needs to concentrate on giving us the "tools" not the "spoon-feeding". Some of it is useful, such as the adaptation, but stuff like in the world and organization, etc. are useless.

PLAYING A (insert PrC): How to play one? Shouldn't that be up to the player? Is it really hard to play a hellfire warlock or frenzied berserker that they have to spell it out for people? First one you, well, mix hellfire with eldritch blast and the other you super-rage and kill things. It's up to the player and/or DM from there to flesh out the rest of the background and details.

COMBAT: Yes, let's give players a How-To-Guide to powergaming.

ADVANCEMENT: I've yet to understand the reasoning behind this section. Seems like bland filler all the time.

RESOURCES: RESOURCES!? Now I know WotC's desperately sticking in useless fillers.

(insert PrC) IN THE WORLD: In what world? Everyone's world is different. Why should this matter?

ORGANIZATION: Same as above.

NPC REACTIONS: This can change constantly to the point where this section makes no sense. It changes depending on what the character does in which city or to which race or what other NPCs of the prestige class has done. To put it bluntly, this is the DM's call, not WotC's. If a DM can't figure out how the people the next town over will react to the player, then, what's he been doing?

(Insert PrC) LORE: One of the few things that should stay, but then again, why can't a DM do this on the fly?

(Insert PrC) IN THE GAME: Not only are they dictating what's in your world, but they have to let you know what good they are in a game?

ADAPTATION: One of the few, again, that should stay.

ENCOUNTERS and EXAMPLE NPC: Silly. These encounters and example NPCS are used, what, once? Most of the time the NPCs created in the books need a ton of fixes and errata.

And there ya go. As you can see, I hate the new PrC format with a passion ever since I first laid eyes on it...and still do.
