Con goers -- speak of thy booty! (Briefly)

Try checking out Target and Wal-Mart for the new expansions. The new lava expansion is a Toys-R-Us exclusive (I hate that Hasbro does that kind thing), but I haven't been lucky to find a set yet.

I did just find out that my cousin got me one of the GenCon exclusive Sworg riders! At least me not getting to GC wasn't a total loss.
Maybe you guys could help me:
(I don't want to start a dedicated thread cause I don't know if it deserves one)

If there is/was so much interest in HS, and people buying it, why is there not more discussion about the game here (and other gaming sites).

Ideas welcome.
In fact, if anyone would like to drop by www.Heroscapehq.com and give your 2 cents, that'd be welcome too.

There is a lot of talk about HS on sites like Boardgamegeek.com, the now deceased Heroscape.net, the above mentioned site and so on. It's not an RPG, so like most really good boardgames, they don't really get talked about a lot here. There is a lot of chatter about the game on other site dedicated to boardgames, wargames, and Heroscape specifically.

Well, of course you're right - and as I remember, board games in general aren't talked about much here.
It's just that I seem to remember seeing a lot more discussion and references to D&D the miniatures game. I guess that can be explained by this being a D&D-based board, of course. :)
But from a gaming standpoint, there's a lot of similarities between Heroscape and D&D TMG - I'd expect more crossover discussion. Oh, well. Heroscape.net which turned into HeroscapeHQ talks about it in spades - I was just trying to obliquely start a discussion about whether this board (collectively) may view Heroscape as a kid's game.

I see. Well, I don't really see HS as a kid's game. That may just be me, but the mechanics, while simple, work together in such a way as you need to stragize quite a bit if you're looking to win against a skilled opponent.

I'm thinking my 6 year old would have no trouble with the basic game rules at all. He handle the basic Pirates of the Spanish Main with no trouble.

It's easy to get the hang of, but that doesn't really make it a kid's game. It doesn't hold that same appeal as RPG's, but for a skirmish game it has a lot going for it.

No, that one is coming later like November/December I think. But Ghostwind did let me look through ther art of the book and it is amazing. There is one guy, I can't recall the name, but his landscapes are just amazing.

Ed Greenwood's Castlemorn should be ready to go to the printer sometime in September. It is in final edit and then we want to let the playtesters take a quick look before layout. (If you'd like to have a say and have your name with the playtester credits in this book, now would be the time to sign up.) After that, it is going to be printed overseas since it will be full color, so expect it to be back in the states around late November/early December at the soonest.

I'm really proud of how this book is shaping up, especially the artwork. Gareth Verleyen has done some breathtaking digital landscape renders and Bruce Colero has created images that practically breathe on their own. It's a totally cool book. Previews will be going up after it has been sent to the printer.

Couldn't we playtest it at the store? Huh? Couldn't we? :D
