Re bronze age/dark age - I was a bit disturbed to see in a preview that it lists various countries' armed forces as including units of knights in _full plate armour_  - I don't recall any precedent for this in the REH stories. All I can think of is a Marvel comic where a resurrected-in-Hyborea Thulsa Doom was outfitted in 'Kothian plate armour' AIR. Did Ian Sturrock just use the standard PHB equipment lists? It seems very odd - I'd be disinclined to allow any armour heavier than breastplate in a Hyborean-age campaign.

Some countries did use plate armor (sparingly), such as Aquilonia/Poitan and Koth. It's in the Howard stories, even if it does seem a bit out of place.

Here's a link to my Conan: First Impressions thread, which points out highlights and errors. What would a Mongoose book be without errors? :p

When Conan becomes king of Aqualonia, he is described as riding into battle wearing black full-plate.

I sit corrected. :)
Interesting how Conan can't be a single-class PHB Barbarian then! ;)

It's good to be the king!

From my memory of the Conan stories I'd expect none of his underlings to have anything even approaching the amount of wealth and resources necessary to deck themselves out similarly.

Besides. He's Conan. When he's king, well, he needs to kick it up a notch.

I've just ordered the Conan RPG from Leisuregames, my FLGS (sort-of - it's in London) - £33  - no Wal-Mart here...
Hello, S'mon,
It's a British product and it's £5 cheaper in the US (and that's Mongoose's list price). Seems like Mongoose have a bad case of Games Workshop Disease. I think I'll give this and most other Mongoose products a miss.
