Paizo is the man, if you base it on them winning year after year in multiple categories. I'm not calling this a snub but it could be.

The Numenera character options book continue to be one of the best supplement I bought in the last decade.

That being said, I enjoy the rather eclectic choices in the various categories.

Glorantha's two-volume encyclopedia is the most detailed I've seen since Wilderlands of High Fantasy. Is this a setting that's been in video games? I'm a bit behind on settings, and I'll have to do some research.

It's been in a video game and some board games, but is most famous for being the foundation for the first two editions of Runequest and has moved through several other systems since then. It's also the oldest RPG setting still in production, AFAIK.

so let me get this straight...you nominated for an ENnie a fan-made Mass Effect game that is a massive copyright violation, uses images from the game without the permission of EA, in lieu of something made by a legitimate publisher? Bad form. You just gave the metaphorical finger to the industry that supports you!

While I question the inclusion of the Mass Effect RPG if the author does not have EA's permission (do we know if that's the case?), I sincerely hope you are not a publisher after that rude, offensive comment about fan publishing. If so, you just gave a bigger finger to fans.

I honestly believe fan work sold more copies of the Savage Worlds rulebook in its early days than Evernight or (the admittedly excellent) 50 Fathoms did. I don't know you from Adam, but I question your authority on publishing legitimacy.

From my reading, you're mistaking his complaint (although I could also be wrong.)

My reading of his point is twofold: a) the product in question doesn't have permission to use the copyrights and trademarks it is using (as seems to be the case as another publisher who pursued the license pointed out that the video game publisher has zero interest in such a product existing) and thus should not qualify on that basis alone and b) the ENnies are perceived as an industry award process (I don't actually know what their official stance is on fan made materials, and I imagine most other people don't either, which is why I'm saying it is "perceived" as an industry awards process) and that putting in fan made material bumps a publisher (who usually spends money getting their product into consideration for the awards.)

I didn't read his complaint to mean "fan content? Eeeeeeeew."

My personal opinion on the latter point is that there should be a fan product category, at best, if they are to be included rather than mingling them with industry products. There are, after all, reasons why award shows in other entertainment industries don't mix "fan" and "industry" products for the same awards.
