I don't know about that. Hit points and XP are pretty strong contenders.

HP and XP are both generalizing a lot of things that could be subsystems in a more realistic/detailed game, in favor of something more workable at the table. But I can explain what HP look like in-fiction and what they represent. (I can also easily houserule hp to make it better at either realism or genre emulation, depending on my goals. I often don't bother, but I know how.)

Turns do not exist in fiction. Your character isn't waiting around while the wizard does his thing before you act. But we can't actually run a tabletop game like that, so... turns.
