Conversion of the X4-X5 modules

The Bhut in Fiend Folio is way different from the X4 Bhut. It's actually an undead.

The Bhut conversion in this thread is very good. The attached document there has usable conversions for all the X4 monsters.

There's also a Cyclops in Dieties and Demigods, btw.

Chapter 5: Encounter 1: Monsters from Below.

The desert hydra. I used a 9 HD/9 head with the following modifications: No Swim check bonus; Tremorsense (Ex): can sence location of creatures on the ground within 60'; +6 to Hide checks when in sand or covered terrain.

The various encounters with enemy patrols I'm changing completely, to give them fewer mosnters but tougher.

One enemy patrol I created was 3 leve 6 fighters mounted on Axebeaks, supported by Wizard 6/Zhentarium Skymage2 mounted on a wyvern. I'm porting the Zhent Skymage to the adventure and having them be elite servants of the Master. Warriers mounted on Axebeaks will also be a common feature.

I am currently running X4-X5 in 3.5e and am converting along the way, so I thought I'd start a thread.

John,

We started X4 in our last session and I too thought I would just convert it on-the-fly, but I have found that it's more difficult than I want to deal with. Do you have a conversion document (or any notes from your conversion) for X4 and X5? Any help would be appreciated.

Here's my take on most encounters from X5. I played with a party of 8 so the CR of most fights could be a bit too high. Another thing is I used the german language version of the module so the headers are in german but the statblocks are english and can easily identified by the encounter number.

Have fun!
