Conversions of old spells and magic items?

Melf's Minute Meteors is a spell I'd like to see done for 3.5 (of course, Fire Orb is pretty close but I'd like to see the conversion).

I had such a beastie around, which I made shortly after 3e came out. I'll see if I can find it...

Had an extra two minutes and whipped this up. Let me know if you see any serious problems with it:

Melf's Minute Meteors
Evocation (Fire)
Level: Wiz/Sor 3
Components: V,S,F
Casting Time: 1 actoin
Range: Personal
Target: You
Duration: 1 round/level or until discharged
Saving Throw: None
Spell Resistance: Yes

Casting this spell creates a cloud of flaming meteors that orbit around you, consisting of 1 meteor per level. Once per round as a free action, you can make a ranged touch attack with a meteor. If successful, the meteor does 1d4 fire damage. As a standard action, you may release up to five missiles-the missiles may affect separate targets.

Focus: A hollow gold rod at least five inches in length, valued at 500+ gold pieces.

Are there any copyright issues with putting such things up on the 'net? If not, I would love to systematically go through the Wizard's Compendium and try my hand at converting stuff.

Not if I'd get hammered for copyright violations, though.

I'm pretty sure that there are legal issues with posting conversions from previous editions to the internet. I think when this was still dnd3e there were issues with the conversion library.

By the way, Boz, I am the thread killer. I haven't post much in the last three years, but if history holds, this page will never see the light of day in 24 hours. I can't explain it, maybe I smell or something, but hey first time for everything.

Hmm... DM's haven has actually taken away their section on the conversions... I have two files with converted spells, never even looked at them, though...
