Here's a possible compromise: it's engulf equals twice its space (not its reach)?

So Space/Reach 60 ft./30 ft. with the ability to Engulf 120 ft.?

Engulfing 120 ft. is OK by me, although it seems a bit funny having it swallow something twice as big as its own Space - there's nothing about Nay-Churr stretching their "stomach" to a huge size, just their mouths.

It would seem simpler to gieing them 120/30 Space/Reach and saying their Engulf is the same size as their Space.

At the time, we were talking only about a single draeden tube, not the power of the entire draeden itself; PCs are typically expected to encounter only one tube at once unless they really get the draeden's attention.

I still think a 150 ft maw is too large; surely, a ship, spelljamming or not, isn't going to be more than 60 ft diameter in cross section. But if you insist on making the Engulfing Maw so large, we shouldn't tie it to space or reach. Maybe just like the draeden: a certain diameter anywhere within reach.

It's not just a question of diameter, the entire object needs to fit within the Engulfing space. If a vessel's too long it shouldn't get Engulfed, following my understanding of the special ability.

A typical spelljammer may only be about 30 feet wide, but it's 100 or so feet long.

It's the length that's the limiting dimension, from what I see.

I can support that.

The advantage to tying it to space is it prevents us needing to list out sizes for larger nay-churrs.

My understanding is that it should be able to put its mouth around the ship and just move over the length, but whatever. I can go with 120 ft/30 ft and tying the maw to space, but I have some problem with making the draeden's maw smaller.

I'd be happy to solve that problem by making the Draeden's maw BIGGER.

Either 300 ft. or 150 ft., so the Draeden's Maw is equal to its Space or half its Space.

I wasn't proposing changing the draden...just the nay-churr.
