Coolest weapon from literature?

Anyone read Iain Banks ? (Against a Dark Background)
How about the Lazy Cannon.
Any weapon that is twice as heavy upside down... is cool. Any weapon which u just aim, fire and forget... is also good.
With effects ranging from summoned meteor strikes, lethal poisoned darts... to just sheer blowing up moons n stuff... it makes both a sure "kill" and an intresting effect.

Agreed, but technically they are still Morganti, and my point was that I thought that all morganti weapons were pretty cool, regardless of whether they were great weapons or no.
How long has Issola been out? I have seen it down my end of town (despite keeping and eye out for the next Taltos instalment.)

From Saberhagen - Shieldbreaker rocks I wish we'd seen some more of Doomgiver - we only ever vaguely saw it in action once, from memory. The Farslayer War in Farslayer's Story was a neat idea.
Anyone else remember Carole Nelson Douglas' "Six of Swords" series? There were some named swords in there, weren't there? (Although apparently not that memorable, 'cos I can't remember their names...)
Then there's Albion, one of the Seven Swords of Wayland... charged with the power of light and darkness...
(The seven, from memory, were Morax, Solas, Beleth, Flaures, Orias, Elidor, and Albion...)

I voted for Stormbringer, a weapon of which you shall find many pale imitations (hell, there's one in the Epic Level Handbook). And Stormbringer's the one that wins in the end...

They were better[/] than the original. I can't remember the exact quote, but the spells used in reforging them 'took better', presumably because of the magic being brought back into the world by the dragons.

Monkey's Wishing staff
A lot of people have commented on the Brust, but I am surprised no one did about Monkey's Wishing Staff. It was all I ever wanted when I was a kid (okay, that and a sonic screw-driver). I used to run around the back yard swinging a pole over my head and pretending to whistle down pink clouds.
Was Monkey as popular a show in other countries as it was in mine? Or am I showing my age here?

I can't believe no one mentioned the Sword of Truth from Goodkind's series.
It had all sorts of cool abilities. It imparted the combined fighting skill of all its previous wielders to its current wielder, making them a total badass in the process. It also channeled the righteous anger of the wielder making itself deadlier against foes the wielder believed had wronged him and if the wielder was angry enough, it could cut through almost any substance. It had some other powers too.
I also have a soft spot for the Sommerswerd from the Lone Wolf books from my childhood. Now there is a awesome Holy Avenger/Sunblade artifact all rolled into one!
The Sword of Leah is cool too. And the Stiehl.
And Callandor could be used as a sword. If I recall the blade is pretty much indestructible and its super light, not to mention the One Power boost the wielder gets.
