I can't believe no one mentioned the Sword of Truth from Goodkind's series.

The Sword of Truth was fairly rightious, yeah.

Okay, this thread's starting to hurt my brain, I keep wanting to group all these weapon-weilders together to form the unbeatable party. hehe

A lot of people have commented on the Brust, but I am surprised no one did about Monkey's Wishing Staff. It was all I ever wanted when I was a kid (okay, that and a sonic screw-driver). I used to run around the back yard swinging a pole over my head and pretending to whistle down pink clouds.
Was Monkey as popular a show in other countries as it was in mine? Or am I showing my age here?
Um...what show was that and what country? I have no clue what you are referring to.:)

Can't remember names....AARRRRGGGG!

The spear from Dragonslayer.

The sword From Sword and the Sorcerer.

The sword from the Gandalara Cycle of books. Not magical, but still cool.

I would have to say that i couldn't pick just one, but two top contenders would be the Glaive and a Lightsaber. They rock because they are powerfull themselves, but are meant to be used by those intuned with themselves. The symbiosis aspect is very nice.

That was one COOL item and show. I watched it so many times when I was younger. Should get the DVD's one day.

My vote would go to Benelux, the Justicar's sword. Everytime I think back at the indignation shown by this sentient sword made of positive energy over the need to replace it's hilt with the old wolf-skull hilt of the Justicar's previous black sword ...

Funny nobody mentioned any of the swords of L5R. There's some pretty nifty peelers in those novels. To mention just one: the bloodsword used by Bayushi Shoju to kill the 38th Hantei...

One other sword I remember was the sword used by Miyamoto Musashi to fight the duel against Sasaki Kodjiro. A wooden boken witteled from a rowing paddle on his way to the appointed duel grounds. Goes to show that swords are sometimes remembered for the wielder and the wielders skill and not for the blade itself.

Excalibur. I mean, the not only can it "cut through an iron bar" (obviously the Keen ability) but the sheath keeps you from dying of wounds (Acts as a Ring of Regeneration that doesn't take up space).

Excalibur = +7 Keen Bastard Sword

Durandel. Just plain cool.

Terminus Est. See above.

CT:HD was a book, first. I think Green Destiny gets in on a technicality.

The movie was based on a series of five novels, to be exact. More on one of them in particular with some flashbacks or other elements borrowed from others in the series.
