Round 1 is OVER!

Go vote in Round 2 right now!

- - -

Vote for the rule you like most. The last rule left on the island will stay on the island forever. So, choose which rule returns to your game soonest!

Setting a completely arbitrary benchmark, I've thrown out the more liked choices from the last poll. The remaining islanders are:
  • Fixed Skill DCs (e.g. Diplomacy & Tumble)
  • Skill granularity: Listen / Search / Spot vs. Perception, Hide / Move Silently vs. Stealth, etc.
  • Tripping mechanics
  • Grappling mechanics
  • Other special attack wonkyness (sunder, disarm); and size modifiers to all special attacks
  • Pokemounts
  • Dodge feat mechanics
  • Whips & Chains: mechanics for Exotic weapons Whip and Spiked Chain
  • Level loss (energy drain, death)
  • Turn Undead: look-up tables are so 30 years ago
  • Massive Damage Save
  • Multi-classing: save stacking, favored class, XP penalties, Monk & Paladin restrictions
  • Counterspell mechanics: throwing away my action to maybe stop yours

You know the drill. Vote with love, people! There's gotta be a rule you don't hate up there! Or at least, a rule you hate less! Yay!

Cheers, -- N

Animal companions, paladins warhorses etc are actually necessary if you're going to use mounted combat at higher levels. Who put them on the island of hated rules?

Wow, such a hard call. Negative levels or Grapple Mechanics. Enervation has been a long favorite in 3E of mine, so I had to go with the negative levels. . . given how the poll's forming up grapple mechanics will need some love if they make it to round 2. . . (I just hope they last longer than the stupid, stupid bonuses which actually break them:().

Nifft, you really should start this exact same poll over on the House Rules forum, just to see how the forum cultures would differ in voting.

And keep them Spot/Listen mechanics separate!

Aside from getting slightly less attention, I'm not sure if results would differ all that much. My .sig link is an attempt to steer folks from General, House Rules and wherever else I post into this forum. :)

Perhaps if it were phrased differently, though... "Best House Rule" instead of "Most Hated Core Rule"?

Anyway, sure, in a few months we can try it there. :)

PS: My vote eventually went to Grapple. It's tough. "Creme de la Crap" indeed. :)
