Cosmopolitan - did this change in PGtF and how?

Did WotC need to take away a feat that gave access to a new class skill?

  • Yes, it was overpowered/broken/a generally bad idea

Yes, the region list is expanded a little bit I believe.

It now only grants +2 bonus to Bluff, Gather Info, and Sense Motive. No more free class skill.

Sigh. I don't see using a feat to add one class skill as free myself. Any idea why this was changed? I don't suppose there is any other feat that allows access to new class skills now is there?

I'm assuming that it changed due to the fact that it made PrC design slightly harder, but that seems silly to me.

Not that this really matters, I'll just keep the old one in my game, but it just seems wierd.

IIRC Rokugan Settings book has the Versatile feat which allows two non-class skills to be treated like class skills.

Skill Prodigy in the KPG gives you (Int mod) new class skills... if you are looking for something like that.

Why they changed it? Easy: Too many prestigeclasses relied on one or two class skill prerequisites.

Of course that doesnt say that there is a problem with having a feat that does it, merely that some prc's are too easy to get into. In which case the prc should be changed, not the feat. ;)

That sounds pretty cool, bit lopesided though ;/ usually prefer feats to be about as useful for everyone who has a use for taking it.
