Just curious about how long it's been taking groups as they go through Spider Queen.

My players have played 10 sessions so far and have finished the 29th day of their adventure. So far, they have cleared through the crypts and explored the Barracks, Bazaar, & Commoner Level of Szith Morcane. Having five players (and one cohort), their levels range from 10th-12th (cohort is 8th). There is such a level divide due to two deaths, three character switches, a new player arriving, and a couple of players missing several games. Their plans for session 11 entail the castle of Szith Morcane.

How is your group fairing time wise and such?

Well, my group TPK'd on day 12 of the adventure - so it's going to take a little longer than I expected. They started CotSQ at the end of May. The farthest they got was clearing out Szith Morcane (with the exception of the House Morcane level. Dorina was responsible for the TPK...). Now they're about to re-enter Szith Morcane again. In game, post TPK they're taking more time to plan strategies and rest - which may be a problem considering it's day 31 on Irae's timeline and they still have to finish clearing out House Morcane. If they keep this leisurely pace they're on track to meet a revenant army head-on. ;)

Judging by the rate they do things I think we'll have everything wrapped up by the end of November/beginning of December.

Yeah, more spoilers. You should expect it by now ^_^

Ouch. My group has gotten themselves into several situations that I think should have ended TPKs, but they always have a trick up their sleave. In fact, there have only been two deaths, both due to stupid mistakes and good rolls by the badguys.

At the rate they're currently going, I'm thinking it'll take another 30 sessions.....

Well, maybe not that long. Part 1 does seem to be the longest part though.

Any one else have any comments?

My players are doing about as yours, twenty-somethingth day, and they have not yet entered neither the inverted tower nor the house Morcane.
There are five of them 11th-12th lvl, a couple of them have died, from rashness.

My party has minorly entered the Inverted tower, but in a fit of sanity, they decided to seek an alliance with Solom. When they had captured the Spellguard of Tierak Morcane in the crypts, they learned of his presense from him. Hearing the word Archmage made one of the players not want to fight him, at least.

The went into his tower disguised as drow and negotiated an audience, promising to put him in power in exchange for stopping the raids and a little help (knowledge wise). Seeing this as a win win situation (they die, he has no link to them and can't be punished, they live, he gets to be in power) he agreed.

At least one of the other players wants to roll the Archmage, but the now "leader" of the group (the remaining original character) wisely doesn't want to anger Solom.

They're still getting the XP for Solom, just not all at once, since I have a feeling that one of the others in the group in particular will try and attack him later.

Course, this is the same one who wants to go kill commoners and loot their stuff.

My lot are on day 18 or 19 of their campaigns, after something like 30+ hours of play. 6 deaths (5 of those in one session when the party horribly miscalculated).

And they've just managed to take the first room in Szith Morcane. The one with the 2 sentries and a spellguard playing cards...

They're currently congratulating one another, before getting ambushed by the Web Team. And the spider. And then the counter-attack lot... Not to mention the 4 or 5 encounters that they've managed to miss on their way down here so far!

(An 8 day shopping trip in Dagger Falls has allowed the Drow to cast auguries, Speak with Dead spells, and goodness knows what else, so the drow are horribly well prepared now... When they fled to town last time, the drow rigged the entire top level with irritating but simple (CR1) traps, followed by a called Fiendish Dire Mimic!)

My party is four days into the actual module. They played a prologue I wrote for the module out prior to that, but I launched the official start of the module on Harvestide. Its now Marpenoth... 4th or 5th (I think its the fourth). So far they have gotten through most of the crypt rooms between them and Szith Morcane. I don't see them monkeying with the wall of stone, so I imagine they will meet the SM sentries in the next session.

Since the official start of the module, we had one death. Plickit-ka was mowed down in the fight with the Morcane forces. Several lightning bolts and a searing light later he was no more.

Luckily Randal sprang for the 5k of diamonds needed to bring him back.

I did warn them that time was a factor (there have after all been TWO drow raids in a matter of weeks)... so I don't think they will dally too much. We shall see.

The whole thing is detailed in my story hour. (<-- shameless plug)

Ah yes, the raids. That was fun. The party kept hiding from them, leaving the raids to attack the farmers in the village. I think the raids continued for 4 times before they decided to set a trap for the raiding party. When they did that, they found the party to be such a pushover that they kept asking easchother, "Why'd we avoid them????'
