Could Divinity: Original Sin Be The New NWN?

If you go to 3:50 in the trailer, you can see a clip of them using the map editor. Seems like this might be a better game for building adventures than any D&D game we are likely to see for a while yet. If you watch the whole thing, you can see that you can interact with a lot of objects, and that different elemental magics interact with each other to produce effects, such as shooting fire at ice, and then shooting lightning at the resulting puddle.

I thought Neverwinter got turned into a MMORPG? A free to play action RPG at that. As opposed to something more like the Bioware version.

Not to be confused with the very original Neverwinter Nights, the AOL game, which apparently has a new version on AOL 2.0 (aka Facebook)

I hope not. The first and latest Neverwinter Nights were MMORPGs, which I stay away from, and the second iterations from Bioware/Obsidian used a horrible gaming engine.

It maybe an MMORPG, but it will have an editor to create your own quests, the Foundry. A similar editor already exists for Startrek Online , but the Neverwinter editor is supposedly a lot further in development and can already do more than the STO editor.

I can say the Foundry in STO is pretty powerful and you can tell very good stories in it. There is of course stuff you can't do, some of it due to MMO conventions (you can't set defined loot drops since that would invite cheating), some due to technical limitations at the time (in STO, you have to use pre-defined ground maps but can still add stuff to them, NWN apparantly will have an editor capable of even making your own rooms, and this may eventually find its way into STO). I don't know if it will compare to the original neverwinter nights toolset. I suspect it may have overall better usability, but some less flexibility.
