I also do not consider 4e D&D unless its the brand name, but you can brand a goat and it still isn't a cow (cowboy joke if you get it), so as I have started to call if Dungeons of Warcraft I suggest you try not to beat my face in with a golf club via thread fights.
Can I call Pathfinder, 3.5E, and 2E Diablo wannabees then?

well if that is the case then if someone runs a red light they're trying to kill everyone on the road huh?

If you run a red light you should accept the possible consequences, yes, and try not to repeat the mistake because even if nothing bad happens it's not because of what you did.

Was that supposed to disprove my point or something because it kinda failed horribly.

its saying just because someone does something like that doesn't mean they're TRYING to kill someone, ever heard of accidents? or does everything happen for a reason?

I mean just because you're upset with my opinion doesn't mean you have to start flinging poo my way, can't we be civilized in the slightest manner or must we diminish ourselves to primitive grunts and snarls?

and as for what you call pathfinder that's fine, to be frank my dear I don't really give a damn :p

yes you can, and perhaps that is why I like Pathfinder, I can still use its material for 3.5

Pathfinder even says on most if not all products
3.5 lives (lives scratched out) THRIVES

so yeah...and 3x was compared to diablo many times so it's not to far from the point, what I'm getting at is how WOTC bases things off popular games.

If I could I wouldd spend my weekends in OD&D but since no group around me likes that system I'm stuck.

Will you play OD&D with me? B-)

No one is upset with your opinion. We think your opinion is silly, and half-formed, and is presented in such a way as to invite others to point out just how silly and half-formed it is.

See, the phrase "Dungeons of Warcraft" was concocted by you to be the most dismissive, sardonic reference to D&D possible. It reduces it to a one-trick pony and a knock-off, when both are demonstrably untrue. It serves no purpose, discussion-wise, and indicates to us that you probably don't have a solid grasp of D&D (or of World of Warcraft, for that matter).

As for poo flinging, consider the lesson "Just because you're upset with a game you don't like doesn't mean you have to start flinging poo in its direction."

can't we be civilized in the slightest manner or must we diminish ourselves to primitive grunts and snarls?

A good start would be to avoid pointless, incendiary jabs like "Dungeons of Warcraft".

and as for what you call pathfinder that's fine, to be frank my dear I don't really give a damn :p

And now we're butchering Clark Gable lines. Awesome.

WotC takes the fun elements from some of the most popular contemporary games and incorporates them into its design, and you choose to view this as a problem.

I assume you think that D&D would have been better if Diablo/WoW had been ignored during its design. :erm:

Calling D&D "Dungeons of Warcraft" says far more about you and your understanding of the game than it does about the game itself (either game, for that matter). But that probably was not a good way to try and avoid a "thread fight". Much like the scene from which you no doubt lifted the golf-club-to-the-face bit from, your comments here are the internet equivalent of straight up asking us, "Would you kindly?" We'd hardly even have a choice.

Mod Edit: Folks, don't make it personal. The internet is known to be a lousy conduit for telepathy, so you shouldn't be positing you know what others understand, or much about them, personally. ~Umbran
