Couple of house rules that aren't too unbalancing

RANGER HOUSE RULE In addition, Shou expatriate rangers are proficient with the katana and Duom (three-pronged spear).

WIZARD HOUSE RULE: only needs special ingredients to scribe spells on scrolls or in a spell book. Once scribed, the wizard only needs to memorize the spell in order to cast it. The rules for casting spells from a scroll remain the same. The rules for crafting magical stuff is the same as in the PHB/DMG

These look okay. Except, of course, that special ingredients with listed costs (e.g. a 100 gp pearl) should be required for all castings, not just the initial scribing

or perhaps you could use the initial casting with the components, plus have say 5 castings in which you didn't have to use the components. You'd still have to memorize the spells though.

i was trying to do away with the walking component factory that the wizard has become.
