Couple of rules questions

1. In another topic, I saw a reference to "chain" casting a spell. What is chain casting, and where is it in the rules?

2. When attacking a weapon, do you add the hardness and hit points for the weapon to the hardness and hit points for the substance it's made of? For example, would a large blade made of adamantite have a hardness of 30? Or do you only use the higher number?

1) The Chain Spell metamagic feat lets you turn a one-target spell into a multiple target spell (similar to Chain Lightning), under certain restrictions. I think it's listed in FRCS, as well as T&B.

2) No, hardness does not stack; you use the higher number. All weapons made of adamantine have hardness 20.
