Cover other games?--- Err No

I say it's a good idea, stop here for your D&D info, and then check out the "other" page for stuff about, well, "other" games. Might even introduce some people to games they would love but have never seen.

Keep the focus

I agree with the ones who wish to keep this a d20 only site. I have no desire to see this turned into another RPG.net, and I'll probably quit visiting this site if it does.

I'd have no problem with seeing other games covered here. I'm used to and like the way things are set up, so it would be more pleasant than having to hop around other sites.

Actually, when I saw the poll, I immediately voted NO!.

However, after reviewing the messages, I'm changing my opinion. Morrus mentioned putting a separate tab at the top for "other RPGs". This way you would never have to even LOOK at the other content.

For Morrus, he could simply post news twice.

As far as the message boards go, I think if it was similarly separated, meaning no interaction amongst the two boards, it would be great.

This would give us the OPTION to look at other RPG information, but never actually force us to look at it unless we want to.

Plus, if there was ever any super cool shi -- stuff on the the other page, he could put an unassuming link in a "other RPG Highlights" section of the main news section.

The natural tendency of the internet is to encourage consolidation. Since anywhere in the world is only a click away, the important factor is no longer how you reach your customer base - but how they know you are there in the first place. Having a single portal is a big advantage for both consumers and businesses alike.

D20 will, because of the OGC continue to eclipse the other systems. Without a single portal to draw all those interested in those systems together, they will continue to wither. However, with such a portal, they could remain a strong and important (though secondary) element of the market.

Enworld seems to currently be in the leadership position. Adding separate sections for those other game systems would allow it to consolidate its position as the preeminent portal for rpg gaming on the internet.

I'm about to start playing Mage and I know 0, zip, zilch, NADA about it. I would love to have an "other RPG" slot here at enworld to discuss my new hobby on. So, I guess I'm a "Yes, as long as the focus stays on d20."
Get your fill at the WWGS forums at at Ex Libris Nocturnis.

This is exactly my point: different games require different sites if they want to reach EN World's quality of coverage and community.

I woudl like to see stuff about miniatures (like the now discontinued Chainmail). I just don't like the big miniature site I found so far... Hard to find what you want...
