Creating "blank" magic items

Item Creation seems occasionally straightforward - you need "spell X" to make a weapon of "type X". For enhancements like Flaming or True Seeing or whatnot, it's either stated outright in the DMG, or evident from the enchantment.

So what does an item creator need to put a +1, +2, etc enchantment on a weapon? For example, what's needed just to make a magical +1 longsword?

Craft Arms & Armor is used to provide the + to hit or damage. It doesn't actually require a spell of its own apparently. Since that is what Bracers of Archery use for their effect.

So - if I understand right - to create a +1 longsword, Billy Joe Wizbanger needs...

a) 1 masterwork longsword
b) the Craft Magic Arms and Armor feat
c) time to create, being... 3 days

Total cost of a +1 longsword: 2315 gold (315 for masterwork longsword, 2000 for a +1 bonus)

d) cost for creation = 1158 gold and 93 XP

Sound right?

And I think the caster level limits the amount of +'s one can put on an item. Think you need to be atleast 2x or 3x the +. Course no books in front of me or around me so I could just be remembering this for the bracers and + stat items, but I seem to remember this also counting for weapons and armor.

Weapon and Armor enhancements (not including special abilities) require no spells at all - just the Craft Arms and Armor Feat.
And yes, you need 3 caster level per "plus" you're putting into the item.

See DMG p. 179 (Armor) and p. 183 (Weapons).

Don't count the price of the MW sword into the creation cost and XP. You pay that separately.

So the creation cost for the +1 enchantment is 1000 gold plus 80 XP.

In 1e, there was an "Enchant an Item" spell, which was removed in 2 or 3e...
