The one that sticks in my mind was Teleport.

A Monk-Magic User (AD&D1) grabbed an uber-Vamp and teleported 300 miles straight up. Into the sunlight.

The most effective combination I have seen was in 1e and was used against the party. It was a 10th level mage who had cast Minor Globe of Invulnerability, Enlarge and then Tensers Transformation from a scroll. 2 attacks per round and 4d4 damage per hit.

Mount
Cover, seting off traps, feeding sharks, distracting other hungry animals
filling in shallow pits, blocking small hallways, If DM permits dropping on people below you, selling to gullible merchants, or if all else fails you can ride them.
I played a sorcerer that cast mount in every situation, we were playing that you summoned individauls and the horses knew to fear me, the first (claudius)would immeaditly panic, remembering all the painful deaths. The second was calm and resigned, and the third (buttercup) was spiteful and would bite or kick at me, although she would let others ride her.

Auguary
"If we travel north for the next 30 min will we be closer to our goal?"

Obscuring Mist
To shut down the twinked out spike chain wielder -

In the last session I ran, the party walked through a 'trick' portal. They went to one destination, while their clothes went to another.
Not to be outdone, the wizard cast Unseen Servant with a command to follow him with two large leaves: one covering his groin and the other his behind.

A 1E situatuion which I believe will still work. You a Cleric/Wizard or one of both.

Imprison your enemy with Wall of Force and Wall of Iron right on top of it. One can be (meta) quickened so as not to allow those that could get out, out. Then cast blade barrier (clerical spell) or cloudkill inside the the wall of force. When the tertiary spell is finished, dispel the Wall of Force. What's left is valuable items, and in some cases, very rare spell components.

In 2e, I played a wizard who made good use of the explosive runes spell, which enchants text to explode when read. Because of its permanent duration and lack of expensive components, I cast it over and over again while taking a break from adventuring. I put it on the top sides of small wooden discs, essentially frisbees, with flimsy paper coverings that would blow away when thrown, then passed out several to each party member. When confronted with a large group of enemies, we all threw the frisbees at their feet, and a hireling with a spyglass read them at a distance, resulting in a series of explosions that wiped out the enemies in the first round.

Flesh to stone, rock to mud, mud to rock, stone to flesh.

You can also skip the last two stages and just plant tomatoes in the mudpuddle that was once your foe.
