Regarding the LA issue, I have Savage Species, and I am willing to use it. Of the different systems of calculating LA, the savage species version seems to be the most balanced and easy to use.

cool, thanks to anyone who can help me calculate and understand LA...

As for the construction rules and the advancement of constructs, from the revised MM, page 303...

And from the beginning of the Golem chapter...

There is no mention on calculating the base cost of the construct.

ok, well, when we get to a construct, we'll have to see what we can figure out. :)

As a base for construct cost, I suggest we 'wing' it. Simply pick a cost that seems reasonable. Alternatly, we could always ask the 'sage'...

Mongoose has Encyclopedia Arcana: Constructs, which contains a full system for making and pricing constructs, reverse engineered to fit the existing ones. Based on the 3.0 prices, but the differences shouldn't be too bad. Definitely better than just "winging it".

Any news on a 3.5 version of Soldarin's ECL calculator? I noticed for example you can get an ECL which is lower than HD...

I have no idea if he wants to update it. However, you cannot get an ECL lower than HD - if you do, the minimum ECL is equal to the racial HD. Should be somewhere on his site...

Knight_Otu & Conaill: Trust me, the Savage Species way to calculate LA, is much easier to use and give a more accurate result than Soladrin's ECL calculator.
