D&D 3E/3.5 Creature Catalog 3.5 Overhaul Project

the original stats only give it 5% resistance for some reason... what would you bump it up to?

I guess we should leave it alone. If I'd created the monster in the first place, I'd give it 29 (11 + CR).

They are twice the size of typical beholders, and differ in appearance as well.

Since the typical beholder is now Large and its space is 10 ft., should the hive mother be increased to Huge and 15 ft?

I'd vote yes. :D

I don’t know if the hive mother needs to be subject to the same alterations that the mainstream beholder went through – it was always very different after all.
A higher Dex couldn't hurt, though. ;)

I do think at least the Int and Dex need a bump, to keep it superior to standard beholders. It doesn’t gain or lose any feats, but we can switch the ones we have if necessary.
Ayup to the abilities. For the feats... personally, I would get rid of Leadership, and maybe replace it with Ability Focus. And of course up that SR! :)

how much should we bump Dex and Int?

dex? leave dex alone, she ain't the fastest thing on the planet don't make her such. keep it on par maybe a 12 after it's all said and done.

INT should go through the roof, 24 or 26 for sure.

ok, here's the question. we gave elder orbs Int 24. should a hive mother have higher, lower, or the same Int as an elder orb?
