Critical Role Issues Statement

I think this is not as inocent as you might think. To me this looks like a polite direct threat to Wizards: We have chosen side. Your move.

The CR subreddit has apparently become clairvoyant as they say CR is clearly on the pro-OGL side but that they released this nothingburger because they're under a non-disparagement clause while D&D Beyond is sponsoring Campaign 3.

I mean, maybe that's true, but it still doesn't change the fact that this is pretty milquetoast. Too average to be average. Out of all the statements regarding the OGL I've seen, this is one of them.

???

Considering it has some of the same language Wizards used earlier today in their 'no no you guys got it all wrong we are with you!' I'm not sure thats the correct reading.
There is a key difference: Wizards were completely D&D centric, and didn't address the OGC issue at all. Matt Mercer specifically calls out creators of new systems in his first paragraph. This is the category that will likely be hurt most by 1.0a being closed down to D&D specific.

If it hadn't been for that detail I would have fully agreed that it was a complete non-statement.
