Cross Class feat ability borrowing wildshape

Cant find the link but I'm sure its been mentioned there will be some flexibity with being able to pickup components of another class without dipping a level into that class.

Just wondering if a druids wildshape would fall into this category.

Would defiantly like to play a rouge who dipped for wild shape and was able to shift into a small stealthy animal making his scout/stealth function even better.

P.S Sorry I'm on a Druid roll , they've had so little love for so long I get all excited when a dev makes a post about one hehehe

Count me in on the Druid-excitement! This gives me hope that by the time I'm ready to start my 4E campaign, I will at least have enough of an idea to make a working make-shift druid to fill in for some NPCs til the real thing gets released. I also like the sound of it so far (though my current druid player will likely miss the menagerie)

As far as your question goes, I would certainly think so, though it may be more difficult than simply taking a feat. From what i've heard, you can only get a few outside-your-class powers at a time, even with multi-classing. It may be a situation where you have to multi-class a few times before you can get a class-defining ability like wildshape.

We'll know more when the multi-classing and class-training rules come out, im sure.

I can imagine Wildshape being a Druid Class Feature that you can't pick up as a secondary ability.

I was thinking something like this as well. It might be possible, with the hinted 'deep multiclassing,' that you can take class features with a prereq. of "class training III" or the like.

Specifically, I think Michelle mentioned somewhere, that that taking of a power was feat based. Given Class features do not appear to based on feats or powers, but are actually inherent to the Class, I would imagine that Wildshape would not be available.

If it were available, it seems like Fighter w/Wildshape would steal the new savage biting Barbarian's thunder, so I'm betting on no.

Also keep in mind that the 4E druid is likely to use the shapeshifting mechanics from the PHII. IIRC, those don't really include a "small, stealthy" option.

Doubt it. At least Races and Classes suggested that the way they were making the Druid was with each "form" as a different power. So wildshape isn't a power or class feature, rather "Cat Form" is a power and might be able to be picked up by other classes.

I thought they already included Shifters in MM as a playable race? Or am I missing your point?
